What do you guys reckon of a worked SR20DET in a zed?

The pro's I can think of are easier to work on, more available parts, lighter especially over the front wheels and better on fuel.
The thought crossed my mind cause i need to get my turbo's done soon and the cost is $$$$$$$
so a SR20DET half cut=$3000, to put it in myself=$2500aprox and sell the VG30DETT $? Might work out for the better.

    Seen it done before.

If i can remember correctly it was in Japan though, and it was putting out nearly 400rwkw.
    Very tidy engine bay!

IMO, if your going to go to a different engine base, I wouldn't be going to one with that much less capacity.

yes, sounds stupid.. take an awesome engine out and put in one from its little brother?? be like putting a ferarri v8 into a v12 ferarri (sort of)

oh, and my exs silvia uses more fuel than my Z.. of course until i hit the loud pedal too much

remember that engine makes cars very fast when they weigh in 300kgs less.. and that weight is not in the engine

    why

Why would you even think about a sr20 bro ??? you need the torque of a 6 in the heavy bastards.. also the sound of the vg30 puts the sr20 in its place ( i must say that the sr20 is an awesome engine in a sylvia my mate has one with near 260kw and in a light car makes for some serious driving).

seen it done before. a few people have put sr20's into zeds.

easy engine transplant, extremely easy to modify, powerful engine... nuthin wrong with it, instead of gettin your turbos done have you looked at buying second hand turbos and selling yours? you can pick them up second hand with minimal-no shaft play for 200-250$ ea.

its also funny because people have fitted vg30dett's into silvias and 180's... love nissans interchangability.
