well the the thief didn't get much. Must have been disturbed. But rotating the screwdriver in the door lock sort of screwed the lock. Local locksmith reckons may be able to fix or may need a new door lock. Mm. And where to go to get one of those??? Any ideas much appreciated.

Sorry to hear about something low like that...hope she gets back to being special :)

Door locks can be sourced from Nissan (big $$) or you can source it from a wreck which a few fellow members are doing in the For Sale - Z Related section of the forum.

If you get another door lock, you will have 2 different keys basically, as the replaced one will have 1 key for it and your normal usual key for the other locks. So if your pifky you can source all the locks from a wreck and replace them so you will only have 1 key fo the entire car.

Hope it works out for you :) good luck :)

Exactly the same thing happened to my z. I sourced some old key barrels off a member here, took them to a locksmith with my current key and he was able to modify them to take it. Cost about $20 for each lock to get done, (I had two). I then just ripped out the old barrels and replaced. About a 15 minute job each door.

    Good luck

To be honest, replacing the key barrel is a waste of time, there's a little yellow clip that connects the key barrel to the locking mechanism that will eventually break, almost garenteed (has happened to both of my zeds and many other members zeds). Take this as an opportunity to do what I've done along with many others and get yourself a remote locking system installed. You can buy a basic kit for just a bit over $100 and installing it isn't hard at all. May I suggest paying a bit more and getting something with an alarm/immobiliser alongside if you haven't got them already? If someone shoved a key in the keyhole without setting an alarm off, I'm assuming you don't have one.

Agree with Slithz, this happened to me about a month ago and after a back breaking few weeks opening the drivers side door through passenger door I bought a remote locking/alarm system.

Came in the mail yesterday actually, its a Tenon 2-way alarm, has central locking (which is what I really need it for) as well as cool stuff like remote start. Got it for around $90 delivered from eBay.
