Every now and then the forward/backward switch fails intermittently. Is this as simple as removing the seat, cracking open (unscrewing) the shell of the switches and fixing some solder joints?? It's kind of annoying when the g/f takes the Z for a little and I hope back in only to find I can't readjust my seat. :) :zlove:

Be real careful opening that switch

It has a dozen tiny springs that will fly out in all 4 corners of your garage. In my experience, the unit is not really serviceable unless you are really creative. the plastic bits inside wear...

Do what I didn. Swap thhe seat over for a manual one = save heaps of weight, make money on the deal and eliminate a potential prob down the road...

Damn. That sucks. One of the original things I loved about the Fairlady were all the electrical doohickeys. lol ;)

Seriously, I do like having the electic seats... So I might just get it fixed, or buy another one, or something.. God knows what...

How much weight are we talking about saving? A substantial amount?

I too love electric doohickeys but they are all

just one extra thing to go wrong at some stage. I don't miss the electric seat one bit... Prob saved about 20kgs..

If you decide to stay with it, try the wreckers & buy the complete switch unit (don't try to buy just internal bits- even if the wrecker will split them *unlikely*) ... worth hunting around till you find a good one or you'll be back in same boat...

My loose electric seat switch caught me out many mornings when it had flattened the battery from being on all night after I bumped it into the "on" position when getting out.Another reason I pissed it off!!!
