I went to John's place to have a look see at the timing belt change happening at his place on Saturday. When I asked to check my timing he popped the bonnet and spotted a rather substantial fuel leak.It was the little hose just under the fuel dampner. It was dripping fuel rather quickly, we tightened up the clamps and all is well.

    thats cheap dude......

most people expect to pay around the $1K-1.5K when getting a mechanic to do their 100k service. But this also includes a new waterpump and other bits and pieces that should be changed while the front of the engine is off.Cheers

    Point taken..>>

but water pump and other bits were recently installed by others. Unfortunately, they installed the belt out by one tooth so the aim was to fix this.Cheers

    IB ?????

    Water pump only extra $142....

accessory belts $45, short hoses $26 and cam seal $88. The killer is the belt tensioner at $428, idler pullies $310 for a set of 3 if the tensioner is OK.

To do everything, just over $1k in parts.

I definitely thank your long skinny arms !!!

Many thanks Kieran. My "short stubby arms" were about as useful as having a handful of thumbs, which I probably also have. Being able to see the front of a Z dismantled (and put back together) was a great experience for those of us just starting out in DIY Z mechanic activities, such as myself. With all the help I was able to replace both O2 sensors, top radiator hose, TPS and temp sensors. Thanks againBTW John, Simon, Ian, Kieran etc the dreaded code 34 has returned. I've made up the 1 meg OHM resistor and fitted it. Any advice on how I can reset the ECU now, or do I just wait out the 50 engine starts that IB said it would take to clear?cheers,Peter
