Hey Guys, this topic has probably been done to death but I've got a question to ask in regards to the install of this thing.

I bought a DEFI Temperature guage, its got everything and I thought the install would be easy.

My problem is that the sensor that it came with has a totally different thread to the existing one on the cast radiator pipe.

Does anyone know of a place in Brisbane where I can some how get an adaptable fitting to combine these two different threads...

    Any help would be great.

You can get a sensor block from Autobarn/Repco that sits in the middle of your top radiator hose. That's the most common thing people do.

Else, remove the top pipe and have a new thread tapped into it :)

Even if you completely grease up the ..

drill and the tap, I still wouldn't recommend doing that job without pulling the pipe off and cleaning the inside thoroughly afterwards.

If you leave it on, some amount of swarf will run around the cooling system and could end up anywhere, probably blocking a radiator pipe or two. For $30 or so you can get the fitting to insert into the top radiator hose to do the same thing - a much safer bet, and a much easier job.

    Speco adaptor

There are numerous adaptors available from speco, see thier website.
Autobarn should be able to get them in for you & not too expensive.

Be gentle installing them though, and make sure you have the correct threads, the pipe and adaptor are quite soft material.

yeah i agree thats what i did, there are only 3 bolts so dosnt take long , the good part about taking it off is you can give it a polish while its off too, and when you see how good it comes up you just have to do the bottom one , :D

Beauty guys thanks for the ideas! PEX i'm going to look into the way you've got your DEFI guage in, looks good and is totally functional without having all the guages sitting all over the dash!

    Thank-you all, great help!

Contact Caz at cazracing as she now has the 45deg water temp sensor adaptor that is sold by Z1 in the states, as the rad pipe is so short you need the 45deg adaptor to get the best fit.
