Hi all, wondering if anyone can help on this one.I fitted tein coilovers today and after a little spin to test them out found the rears to be knocking at the very top.I checked the two nuts at the top again and they are tight, seems to be coming from top of shock shaft where the nut screws on but cant tighten as when i get a socket to it the whole shaft spins,is it safe to grab the shaft inside the coil with vice grips so i can tighten the nut? would this fix the rattle?

Don't put anything on the shock shaft as it seals on that surface and

any scratch marks could make it leak. The top of the shock rod should be a threaded section with two sides machined flat - this is where you put the spanner to undo the nut holding the upper shock mount in place.

cheers should the tein coilovers have a gasket at the top

between the body off the car and the coilover? if so without it would it knock? the nuts at the top are done up to correct spec.
