hey hey pplzzz, there is a cluster on Ebay 4 sale, But... the needle on the Tacho is sitting between 9000 rpms and the oil gauge. Does this mean nothing because its not connected and has no power? ... or is it a clear indication that the tacho gauge in the cluster has lived out its life? Thanking you in advance P.S. Merry Christmas
Not nessecarily, when the power is off the needles can be moved past the verticle and will fall to the point you described. The needle should revert back to 0 once power is connected. It could be completly stuffed, though I doubt it. The most common problem for clusters is bad connections between the Mylar circuit board and the gauges, and the connections between the stepper drive and the gauge circuit board. If you can get the cluster for a good price go for it. 300zx lover, where abouts in sandringham are you? I used to live there when i was a little kid...
Its not stuffed, I had one the same. The tacho is spring loaded But when you get past 8000 revs they seem to fall toward the end. Takes 2 secs to fix. Take the cover off and push the needle back and all is good. GJ
