Hello, Issue: were the door\windscreen\targa insert meet it seems to be letting water through enough for a steady drip. how can i fix this because as you know in perth its a little wet :\ the seals dont look perished at all not sure what to do.
try unblocking the drainage channels by pushing through a piece of stiff wire, to unblock any gunk and muck in them. also you can remove your seals, sook them in warm soapy water and refit to "renew"the seals which could help a little, or cough up close to a couple of k on new rubbers all round.
Yeah mine did to, and exactly On my wrist when holding the steering wheel -_- I un-blocked the drains holes.... Problem solvered also good thing to do so that it doesn't rust up
Awesome guys thats sounds great i'm assuming that would be it the car is in good nick but the last owner neglected it, thanks guys
remember its a 20 year old car and that rubber doesnt last forever. look at a your average commodore or falcon of the same age, how do they look by comparison? age kills everything eventually.........
lol well the rubber looks in pretty good nik though these drainage lines... done suppose anyone has a pick of exactly were or what they are?
Looking at targa from drivers door side , its in the RIGHT channel between targa and windscreen . Brush all the muck out of the channel and you will find it . I have done this to my car but still leaks like a sieve . Getting replacement rubbers soon .
It's a small hole feeding in to a tube that runs down inside the windscreen pillar(same on both sides). In addition to clearing the drain tubes, try smearing a thin coat of Vaseline on the rubber seals(making sure to get it in between the ends of the seals where they meet-up with the rubbers on the Targa Panels)this will discourage water from leaking through the joins.:zlove:
ok cool i will try the vaseline too.. im sure i have some in my bed side draw... cant remember why its there though.... *cough*
LOL.... well this is one of the problems that affects nearly all of the owners over here in the UK... (unsurprisingly) here are three write ups on the issue ans resolutions by one of the UK's (if not the best in the UK) specialist. you may have to register to view the posts.. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?147273-Repaints-and-leaky-targa-s&highlight=leak http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showt...electrical-issues-and-targas&highlight=targas http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?158033-Targa-pipe-tech-again&highlight=targas just a point to note... replacement rubbers won't fully stop this if they are not sealed correctly.. i.e. glued / siliconed.
