There's no easy way to remove the pinstripe tape....

just keep picking away at it, bit by bit. Because it is probably 15yrs old it breaks off every inch or so but if you use some "double D eucalyptus" you can clean up the glue left behind after you finally get the tape off.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

Try heating it gently with a hair-dryer to soften the adhesive.

Heat and peel a section at a time, then clean up with a gentle solvent/paint cleaner... eucalyptus or tea-tree oil is good.

    Pinstripe removal.

You can buy a small tool/wheel from Auto Tool suppliers, that is designed specifically for removing body tape(most auto paint shops have them). Simply fit them to you electric drill.

is this the brush tool?? ive seen these before and always thought that they would scratch the paint up more then actualy helpping.

It's more like a rubber sanding disc, than a brush.

    sand it

i have done up alot of nissan's and i either use a heat gun , wich works sometimes but most the time i end up sanding it wich is imposible with any sensible grade sand paper so i prety much have to hack into it with the course stuff then primer and the other way is just paint over it i know its not that neat but it sure is alot easyer

the rubber disc thingo is called a caramel wheel

you can pick them up from coventrys for around $15 (from memory).

Be warned though, don't hold it in the one spot or it'll take your paint off with the pin striping! :)

    Re: smoothing off the bottom

Mine looks like Geoffs now, All smooth. I wanted to leave the Black factory bas coat on mine si I chizeled it off.

A chizel was able to run along under the motly crap and left behind the black base coat..

The black strip i had to scrape off with a blade. It wasnt moving.

Then of course I had to fix the dents in the sill panel. Now that was a job!!
