hey guys im putting a tt auto box in with my na diff.
problem is the tail shaft which i have both na shaft and tt shaft, how do i make this work???

i was thinking i could use top half of tt shaft and bolt to bottom half of na shaft but i now see the bolt pattern is different.

i know i can go get a 1 piece to suit but is there anyway around that??

There is no real alternative to getting a shaft made-up for this(it will be worthwhile in the end)because if you mix parts from various other shafts, you will need to have the final shaft balanced anyway. Cheaper and easier to get a new shaft made IMHO.

can a na driveshaft be used with a tt tranny?

What is the advantage of using a TT auto with an NA everything else?

Is this a TT motor and transmission going into an NA rolling shell?
If yes, then wouldn't it be easier to get a TT diff and tailshaft?

Much easier to get a tail shaft made up than to swap the rear end, as TT and N/A diffs aren't interchangeable.

Not to mention that he might be after the higher geared N/A diff.

IF the front mounting flange is compatible(and the shaft length is the same)then there is no reason why it can't be used, although it may not be as strong as a TT item. AFAIK.:br:

    get one made

Easy to get one made and should only cost about $500. With this you will get a balanced tail shaft with brand new repairable unis, Which the 300 ones aren't.

ok its confirmed from z1 stating
"As long as you keep the NA rear diff, the NA driveshaft will work. The
TT driveshaft will not work with an NA diff or vice versa"

so that saves me money i can now use my na driveshaft to slide straight into my tt auto trans :) thnx guys for all the help

Is it possible that the US Spec Z32's all had the same Auto gearbox/diff, and therefore this info "might" be valid in the USA???

You are probably 'on the money'(I just can't understand why anyone here in Aust needs to ask for such basic info from the 'Good Ole US of A', when the answer is freely available right here)?:p:zlove::br:

so what do i need to make my auto tt trans connect to my na diff?
    specs:
    transmission: Auto
    diff: na
    body: 2+2

is there an adapter plate or even a special driveshaft made just for this combo

You need to get someone at a Drive-shaft workshop(such as Hardie Spicer)to make you a one-piece drive shaft with a TT Auto front Yoke and an NA rear flange/uni.

ok after heaps of research on the internet iv learnt that the old fashion do it your self works best.
the problem with the tailshaft was me needing a tt spline and a na rear flange.
the solution was simple. unbolt the half way joint and remove the flange on the na tail and then place that flange on the tt tailshaft. proceed to connect the tailshaft back together and it now works.

so here i unbolted these bolts and switched the flange.

here is a photo of the issue most will find the spline is much bigger for a tt trans.
