Just a small turnout last night with Ports, ONI and Myself having a run. I set a new PB of 12.504 to miss out on 4th spot on the draglist to Wizards 12.502. The freezing cold weather gave me at extra 5MPH on last summers effort with a 113.57MPH terminal speed and a 1.668 60ft. ONI seared into the 13s with a 13.6 run while Ports had some boost issues and was a bit off his usual times. ONI took lots of photos so hopefully might get some posted soon
sounds awesome jt....just one question...when at the drags do you change your tyre pressure???? does it help?
I was pretty disappointed really I was hoping that 238rwkw as an auto and now with 5spd, lightened flywheel, leader diff and one piece thingy that I would have done better. First run I got hammered by a HONDA Civic that a 13.94! I was shaking that much on adrenalin, yes it?s a buzz, that I revved it to 8000rpm in first and hopped all over the shop managing a 14.595 at 104.54mph. When I got back to the line up Ports and JT gave me a calming talk and a few pointers. I eventually did two nice runs of 13.682 at 107.82mph and 13.699 at 105.95mph. THANKS WAYNE AND JOHN Everyone said get some Mickey Thompson, and I probably will, but it?s kinda cheating for a daily driver methinks. You don?t see a Ferrari driver say ?Hey I?ll give you a race but first let me change tyres!? I?m all for good tyres as I presently have SHITE jobbies but I want regular FAST tyres if you know what I mean. Anywho it was a tops night but still just a little bitter sweet. I really need to get into the low 12s before I feel like I?m in the big boys league. Here I some pics.
Not as easy as It looks eh Oni. I'm sure iv'e said that before, lot of people on here talk up good times , but untill you get out there and have a go you won't know how difficult it is to do. Nothing wrong with your time Geoff, get some better tyres, improve your 60' time and you will be moving up the drag list. Close but no cigar JT, but i'm comming back soon to make it even harder, That 12.502 i run was with the auto with a 2.161 60' time, now that ive gone manual i should be able to run a 1.7, 60' And the general concensus is a tenth saved at the start is equal to 2 tenths at the end. Gear changes will be slower, but all things being equal that still should get me into the 11's anyway well done boys, see you there soon.
Oh i miss the drags Having my car out of action and being too busy with uni and work doesnt help. Sounds like u guys had lots of fun. I cant wait to get back into it. Hope to see u all soon Cya Michael
Yep, I figured you will be in the high 11s soon. Thats why I was trying to knock you off while I can even though it would be temporary. Im thinking the only way I can go faster now on this engine is to maybe put in some Martini fuel and bump the timing/boost a bit more. Hopefully might get into the low 12s then.
It's posts like these that shows the ones that put down drag racing as not requiring skill a thing or two. Consistancy is the key and Geoff you have consistant times but a we bit slow for your mods. You have good company to show how it's done so I 'm sure you will be seeing 12's before too long. Take adavantage of this lovely whether too, won't be here long. Anyway mate, why arn't your times on the list?
What's goin on dude? 238rwkw and only 13.6? I ran 13.6 on my stock zed (pod and exhaust, standard boost) and normal tyres. Did you do a big burnout before you ran? I found that alone knocked off about 4 tenths of a second off compared to not doing one
Geoff, 238rwkw and only a terminal of 105mph - you sure you've got that much power - seems kinda slow! Also, what were your 60ft times? Congrats JT - close!!
No. Im saying that for that power you're terminal speed I would think would be above 110mph - maybe 111-113mph. Don't get me wrong; Im just trying to work out why your terminal speed is way down for the power you say you're making. Least IMO its way down. *shrug* ....I dont mean any offence Geoff.
well done and top pics, guys ... can't wait for the wiz to get back in there and start weaving his magic ... :zlove: :zlove:
No sweat Franz 60' 2.188 330' 6.051 660' 9.020 mph 84.53 1000' 11.570 ET 13.682MPH 107.82 km/h 173.53 Anyway I'll keep trying but as mentioned I'd rather have some nice road tyres than drag tyrs but if that's what I need well hey. Cheers
Practice makes perfect Geoff and whos dyno registered 238rwkw and what was the inlet air temp versus ambient. Its a hard thing to do so dont beat yourself up too much Geoff.
dude i haven't been on the forum for so long and all this drag action is making me jealous. hope all the zeds are whippin everyone!!!! can't wait to be back in action, i don't get my licence back till new years and so far i've polished my plenum, deleted throttle coolant pipes and hoses, tossed all emissions related stuff and hiding wiring. i've also been saving lots of money for a Haltech E11v2 computer and curcuit friendly suspension. mmmm horsepower
Very slippery of you JT, your 60' times are hard to beat. Don't worry too much Oni on your times, they will improve with practice, particualy your launch. I can't seem to take a trick at the drags, always some small issue that affects my times, no traction and erratic boost.
