Hi guys I need to get my super HICAS sorted for RWC There is play in both sides inner and outer so going to replace. The car is a 95 TT 2+0, I have been looking on CZP but I'm getting confused what steering rack ends/ Tie rods/ ball joints ect I need and what they are called. Could anyone give me an idea of what I'm going to need? Cheers Stuart
I priced up offsets vs lockout kit. I went the full lockout. Getting the ball joint out sucks on the rear. The rear arms are different from hicas to super hicas.
VIN? The parts can be identified using Nissan FAST. You will need to provide the VIN & an accurate description of the part/s you're chasing.
Depends where the play is Commonly the play is in either the ball joints or the tie rods - but this can be physical checked If you cannot see any physical play Checked the fluid for bubbles (if hydraulic) Check the spacer is adjusted correct to specs as well, otherwise it will have lots of play Normally I don't suggest ebay for anything over o.e.m.- but when it comes to tie rods and ball joints - you can save a fortune - its only steel after all Worth checking out using the search words 300zx / inner tie rod / ball joints - just check the listing to make sure its the right part - but its fairly straight forward.
Here is a picture from FAST if you post the part code and quantity, either my self or someone else will post the part numbers. I'm not saying this is the way to go or a lockout setup, but at least you can work out the cost. Second thoughts it will take me 2 mins to do this. Number on the left is for image above and the XXXXX-XXXXX number is the part number for a 1995 2+0 TT. Cheers thanks guys, My car is a 95 TT as stated. I was under the impression that a 95 TT would have Electric super Hicas, but it defiantly has a hydraulic set up. Can someone shed some light on this for me? if its hydraulic does that means its HICAS or super HICAS?

Are you sure? Something is amiss here Super HICAS came in 1994. It would not make sense to retrofit an older version of HICAS, not to mention the hydraulic lines would have to be run to the back in order to retrofit the HICAS. This creates confusion in your post and leads me to the following Are you sure its 1995 and HiCAS? HiCAS is easy to identify - it has hydraulic lines going into the back HICAS unit - don't forget both HiCAS units (all models) still have hydraulic power steering at the front - so don't go off the hydraulic lines at the front - which is what you may be doing here! Check the VIN for the letter P (1995) as defined in this pic below If the VIN has a P in it (1995 models), I would have to assume it may be a rebadged/ replated vehicle Something is clearly amiss here You might need to speak to the former owner in regards to this anomaly Could not see the FB pic :zlove:
Ok so the truth has come out, car is actually a 1990. Imported in 1995 from jap. All the info I had was saying it was manufactured in 95 but got the jap vin put into nissan fast and it turns out the car is a 1990!
Not quite correct You are using the US information as a reference ,which is not exactly applicable to JDM Z32's. For instance the Super HICAS (Electric) first appeared in 1993, not 1994. The VIN information is relevant to the US market, whereas the VIN information is different on the JDM vehicles.

The only reason I'm aware of it is my Z was built in December 1993. The change from hydraulic to electric HICAS occurred around September 1993. The US vehicle model year starts at this time, therefore if the vehicle was in the US, it would be classified as a "1994" model. A bit of trivia: A JDM VIN plate does not have model years designated by letters, also you will notice the letters to not proceed past 1996 on US Z32's, when sales of Z32's ceased. They also don't recognise 1989 models, as they are referred to as being 1990. JDM's were sold from 1989 through to 2000, hence the 2K spec vehicles.
If you watch the Nissan documentary (that I assume was part of the early days advertising) it shows a series 1 steering wheel in a suede interior. So the original Z32. They call it "Super HICAS", so this would indicate that it was always ............
