I can help with the soldering part, electronics is one of my hobbies. Im located in SE Suburbs (Mulgrave) not sure if thats too far.

Actually Im thinking of doing the same LED conversion to my dash one day, probably source my own lights though.

On the cluster is there an individual light for the needles? I would be interested if you could make the needles a different colour from the rest within the cluster.

No sorry, the needles are made of a tinted red plastic which always lights up red. Unless you change the needles to a different color plastic you can not change the color.

Although, the only thing I've ever soldered is my Series 2 - PTU (changed from S1 to S2) , I feel confident that I might be able to takle this job on my own. However, I would like to have a look at the install manual to ascertain if this is indeed within my very limited abilities.

This is more about me being a visual person (needing to read rather than be told or try to visualise) and actually wanting to be confident by looking at what's involved before I get a set (and I do want a set to suit my el dials )
I hope this made sense.

If you do not want to make the manual public I'm happy if you email it to me directly on the proviso I'll not make it public.

Lights must've burnt out. Side pods do have lighting.

 

The writing seems to be painted on... let me double check...
