VIC Sun 30th May - cruise to Phillip Island to watch track day

OK guys'n'girls, there is an NDSOC/MSCA track day at Phillip Island on Sunday May 30th, as per this thread http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300453. We have a couple of interstaters bringing Zeds or Z32TT powered vehicles, with Dino coming from NSW and Diesel Dave tracking one of his Evades. Tekky will be coming out for a play in his street Zed, but unfortunately mine remains on the trailer.

I would expect there to be other Dattos and Nissans, a heap of Lotuses, a couple of Corvettes, a few Fiats, MG's, Clubmans, and various others making up the numbers on the day. This will be a track day format, with cars coming out in groups of 10 or so, and running 3 or 4 laps, before coming in. Perhaps 4 or 5 runs for each group during the day.

I will arrange a cruise start point and time in the next couple of days, starting somewhere between Keysborough and Cranbourne, and leaving for the Island at 8:30 am. This won't be a cruise with stops and starts and photo opps, but simply a cruise to the track where we can offer support to our fellow members. I expect that the track shop in the pits will be open for food and drinks.

There are plenty of photo opportunities at the track, at MG corner, turn 1, on top of the pit buildings, and of course in the pits themselves. This cruise will go ahead regardless of weather but it's always wise to pack winter gear for the Island.

OK, start point details below.

Meet in the carpark between Hungry Jack's and the Caltex servo at Great Southern Homemakers Centre on the South Gippsland Highway, just after the Thompson Rd intersection. Enter between Hungry's and servo; I will be in an orange Falcon XR6, not the Zed. If you need to refill yourself or your car, you can do it here. I expect to arrive between 7:45 and 8:00am.

Given that at least 1 member is coming from way over west side, time of departure will be 8:15am. The run to the circuit is about 93km from here, will not be stopping en route. Will probably take just over an hour.

There should be no charge for entry into the circuit. Once there, I expect to be able to drive into the pits and check in with the racers. After that, walk or drive to whichever point you want. I will be spending time at turn 1, at MG corner, on top of the pits building, and maybe over the back somewhere. Food and hot/cold drinks should be available from the shop in the pits.

Now, start praying for fine weather like the last 2 weekends!!!
