OK 60mm is the OD. Menas nothing apart from what size hoses to get.
The dimension that matters is the butterfly plate diameter.

you measure at the inside edge i think vader........the butterfly diameter..........

ive got oversized ones from a group buy which are , i think, 55 or 58 mm.....unsure to be honest but im pretty confident they are under 60mm

Ok, I'm happy to be proven my measurement was wrong.

    It's 53mm ID, 60mm OD.

The spare TB's I have are out of a NA, and I am assuming are stock. They are 53mm ID, 60mm OD.

The inside tapers a little towards the front as the wall thickness is not 3.5mm.

    Edit:
Having said all the above, there are others on here that are more knowledgeable on this stuff than me. If they say the norm is 50mm, you can disregard my measurements as I must have a non-stock pair.

Vader, you're measuring on a taper, the throttle plate is 50mm. Measure the other side.

You don't have to measure it, the answer is 50mm. ;)

Eric, Yes, you are 100% correct, not that you need me to tell you :)

Everyone, please accept my apology for giving the wrong answer not once, but too many times.

Here for everyone's benefit is the evidence:

i have a question related to this. If the I.D. of the throttle bodies are increased, what effect does this have on part throttle driveability?

i cant tell you exactly in relation to vg30dett. but in most cases too big is eaither on or off throttle. if you were to go sligtly bigger in the case of a VG twin throttle i dont think driveability would decreasu. i think you could go to about 2 x 65mm TBS before you notice any big response issues
my thought and knowldedge im sure there will be a better example soon :)

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

    Put very simply.
When you increase the diameter of the TB, for the same throttle opening, you let in more air.
This results in increasing snappyness of the engine respons to low throttle opening and increased "jerkiness" when driving around and very fine control of the loud pedal is needed for much larger TB's.
The somewhat sharper throttle "response" is what mosed dudes mistake for increased performance from larger TB's.
With some ingenuity, you can modify/fabricate up some offset cable quadrants that open the tb much less on smaller throttle openings and then pull open more quickly closer to flat out.
This simple mod will cure the touchy throttle response if you insist on fitting larger TB's.

A single 50mm TB will flow well in excess of 400hp so for the vast majority of us, larger TB's are largely for bragging rights.
HOWEVER, ignoring the touchy throttle, large TB's at very worst, with achieve.......nothing at all! So, no real reason NOT to fit them if thats what makes you hard.
