    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows the stock block record for a 300zx? so far I can find 10.4 proven and a shady 9?

Sounds like you talking about 1/4 mile time?

    I'd like to know power.

    1/4 mile time.

couldnt care less about a dyno figure. great tuning tool though.

Chop up aand strip a 300zx add lots of boost slicks and see how you go.

have heard of 689rwhp through a stock NA motor with a big single. Heard of mid 10's in the good old US.

    What's a stock block ?

Does it need to run coolant, can it be post factory opened, is it street driven, grout filled, stock turbos, stock fuel system, pump gas, methanol, ?????

Way too broad a question, sorry. :p

stock block is generally reffered to the bottom rotating assembly. cams allowed mls gasket blah blah blah. stock pistons/rods/crankshaft.

Hmmmm thats a tough question as most people going for gold will change rods and or pistons pretty early on.

Its a bit like the "what HP" will they take, as much HP as you are lucky really, reliable HP ??? well economics tend to insert upgraded parts well and truly before its an issue.

I don't know of many that have sat down and thrown a high end ECU, dyno, large turbos, intercoolers etc etc and really tried to answer that question, its just not worth it.

What would the answerr mean ? Heres a power level a stock block can handle if you throw $20,000+ at it and cheap out on rods and pistons.

As mentioned above Peter (pmack) is probably one of the few that have really played alot with relatively stock setups, he is a pretty switched on guy and enjoys getting alot from a little. He has proved a relatively stock car can get in the 11's.

To my knowledge he did it with with bumped fuel pressure, obviously AM fuel reg/s, and not stupid boost on pump gas and a tune. (pmack feel free to add or correct that.)

I still call the question too broad, what are you really trying to find out ? :)

question is how fast people have gone with a stock block. lots of people do it with different platforms in the US. As previously stated it seems mid 10's is it for the vg30dett

    4g63 is 9.2 @ 150+
2jzgte supra is in the 8's i believe
    vr38 in the 9's
neo rb25 in the low 9's
    1jzgte in the 9's
    ls1 in the 8's

    its a curiosity thing.

Maybe the VG30DETT is too much work to play such games with a "stock block", as in lots of work in and out.

Where as most of that list are probably straight engine big single setups, some what easier to throw stock blocks at it for fun.

The VR38DETT wouldn't need much to get in the 9's as the 2013 GTR is doing 10.8 out of the box and the 2015 Nismo GTR will do 9.3, a bit of boost a bit of weight reduction hey presto not to mention it sits in a state of the art AWD dual clutch, $100,000 chassis.

There are guys probably prepared to blow up a GTR to apply for the medal before doing an AMS 1000+ HP upgrade.

    Nothing scientific about it.

But to answer your question, I don't know. :p

personally, i believe the VG is just as good as some of the motors listed above and i believe it can take a lot of power in stock form, PROVIDED IT IS LOOKED AFTER. If you wanted a Big HP stock engine, keep oil and coolant temps in check, keep RPM as close to stock as possible and keep detonation away(E85). I'd say a healthy VG could easily pull 600+rwhp without issue if care is taken, high RPM will kill it as will detonation obviously.

To those that will reply to me with "nah bro my mums dads uncles sister told me its 300kw and any more it will blow up and kill 300 kittens" an engine does not have a set power limit that it can take, nor is it making 5,6,7,800rwhp ALL the time, chances are for the first 3-4000rpm at 800hp it will be making less than a stock zed would.

over here in the west i can think of a couple of cars that made low 400rwhp with stock internals, but bigger tubos and intercoolers.

chilledpain, zweet and a few others have done that.

not the max obviously, but achievable and realistic

I don't think 400 rwhp is that big a deal for a stock block. I got 363 rwhp with stock block, heads, injectors and turbos but modded everything else.

I believe Uas blew one of their own engines stock rod at around 400 rwkw (536 rwhp). On the other hand there is a post a while back at 300zx club of a guy claiming when his race motor blew he put in an NA as a joke and was surprised (on race) fuel it put out 900hp on the dyno - he was the first to admit you probAbly wouldn't get away with that too often but it did it.
