Steer rack Boots

    Can anybody tell me where to get new steering rack boots? OEM only or aftermarket? (Mr G where did you get the ones I fitted to your car?):cool:

    The universal boots that Bursons sell for $25 are quite good. I have used them and no problems.

    also on ebay pretty good as well I bought a set for the front oem about $60 for the pair

    Is an R33 gtst steering rack Boot the same as a z32?

    Yep, Auto One had universal replacements when I needed some last year. Fitted just fine(and were much cheaper than OEM).

    what are steering boots for? Just to keep dirt and stuff out? Ive 'had recommend new steering rack boots' written on my service sheet comments for the past two years :p

    Is it something i should do?

    Yes, keeps all the gunk out of the rack seals and shafts, without them your rack will develop leaks and the grit will score the surfaces of the shafts and barrels. Basically your rack will start to leak and no amount of seal replacements will stop it. Also, hydraulics run very tight clearances, often class fit, any grit caught in the valves, or pumps is doing nasty damage to them.
