OK, so it starts... Still having issues tho Hunting really bad Fiddling with datascan, the only thing that improoved the hunting was increasing the AAC to a high value - prob not related tho... Runs fine on the passerger side bank, drivers side no so much :bash: little to no effect when pulling the coil pack connecters. HAS spark 100%.:bash: No error codes. Timing belt is on 100% correct Seems to have fuel as plugs get wet CAS is working. PTU is working and all plugs are good and have good connection What happens if the injectors are wired on back to front? (I didn't do the wiring of the connectors - thinking mabe my mate got them back to front on the drivers side???) What is common on the one bank that can cause the whole bank to not work properly? It seems to run well for a car on 3 cyls. Finding it really hard to determine if they aren't firing at all or very intermittantly :bash::banned: Throw some ideas out there please guys... Prefer something that doesn't involve pulling the timing belt off again :bash:
Hey mikey. are you saying that the car is only running on 1 bank? so if you unplug all three coilpack connectors on drivers' side bank is still runs the same? That's wierd, i wouldn't have thought the engine would run at all if only running on 3 cylinders... Do you have a timing light? put it on ALL coilpack connectors to check for spark via the timing light.
Yeah Benny, pretty much the same hey - can't really tell the difference between all 6 connected and just the 3 passenger side When they are disconnected one at a time, as you replace the connector it hints to a slight change but f all really
Injector wiring will not matter which way the wires are connected but, are you sure the pin terminals are in properly? Saw this once before on Shazza Zedders, the connectors were replaced but when the terminals were inserted into the plug, the locking lug on the pins was crushed down so they would not lock into the plastic plug and slide back. Pull the plugs off and check the little silver pins are fully home and they don't move when you pull on the wires.
No I am a lil sus on the injector connectors They have no slack in the wiring at all so they are pulled pretty tight... Planning on re-doing them all 2moro tho... Stripping a bit of the insulation off to get a bit more rope...
You say the plugs are wet when you pulled them, so I doubt it is injector connectors. Have you done a compression test since replacing the lifters?
Yep straight after putting it all back 2gether... 145, 150 ish was the lowest... Will re-comp test in the morning tho...
Forgot to mention that it is low on vacuum if that helps point to anything... ~-10 to -13/14 at idle... gets to -20 when revs increased and when blipped...
We plugged my boost guage directly to the driver side of the balance bar where the stock one goes. I think it has a massive air leak somewhere. Can hear sucking at the back of the engine and would explain the low vac but wouldn't really explain one bank almost dead would it?
Just pulled balance bar to get to the back cyls and there seems to be an oily residue in the balance bar - with a strong smell of fuel???
No the vacuume will be the near same on both sides, reguardless off where you took the reading. I'd find the leak first, then rewire the injector connectors a bit longer, and make sure the lock on the pins is pryed out, so they lock in place.
Its remids me of this one mike, have a read thru it http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=280693&highlight=lota
It sounds like the issue BiGZ had when one of his intercooler pipes fell off. Do you have access to a boost leak tester? His ran like crap on one side but the other side was fine. He also managed to fry his CATs when he tried to drive home.
The cam locating dowel was definately in good nick when I put the VVT sprockets on, but who knows what has happened in the mean time. Pull the belt off again Mikey
So what was the problem in that one exactly? Is the bit that broke the little knob on the end of the cam that goes into the sprocket? How does that break???
yeah thats right, i dunno how it breaks, prior to installation maybe, or the bolt not being torqued up enough
