I run a lot more than 3.5 neg front. V8 Supercars run 6 deg neg or more, although with 17 inch slicks with soft side walls and a ot of grip, they need to.

I love your quote at the bottom, getting like that isn't it.

forgive my ignorance, i understand AWD, i dont understand why need same wide tyres all corner for our RWD car?
Dont you need to find out the best combination to match your set-up and power output?
Aint there always some cases too wide for your car, or too narrow for your car?

well just as you need bigger wheels for traction ...dont you think the front is just as important for braking and turning?

our cars come out with same all round ...

looking for the perfect balance really but theory and practical dont always see eye to eye.

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

looks like it's going to be a trial-and-error mission for your particular setup BB. General consensus from the first hand experience guys would be for staggered. Going by JP and Fleet's (via Heavytrev) experiences the Staggered is giving pretty even heat transfer results. But also there will always be room for finer adjustment, like having a smaller diameter rim and larger tyre profile would require a bit more camber, but this would also be factored by how much tyre surface there is too....

(being a noob at track work) I have to resort to listening to as much as the experienced folk have to say about it, and observing from Aus, NZ, and also a fair bit in US forums, it seems the majority ARE running staggered fitments for track work in our Z32's. So going by this i assume many have possibly tried both setups and favoured the staggered setup for their own reasons for our Z32's....

Looks like you can take on board what some of the guys have tried so far, and maybe refine that to suite your Zed's exact setup for maximum performance i guess. :)

looks like staggered is what I will be going .

just had to double check if the same all round was a better option and if the reason people didnt do it was because of fitment issues with beefy wheels on the front.

cant afford trial and error on these ..only want to buy them once! .

It's not much help but I ran the 235s front and rear on an 8.5" wheels, turned the rears to smoke in one track session - simply no where near enough grip.

Tyre temps and wear rate are all pretty even with the 275s on the back and 235s on the front on 18" dia wheels.

Yes you are right the general practice is to run staggered and at a guess around 20 30mm narrower tyre on the front. Obviously more info in the other threads in the MS section that relate to tyres and weight and balance etc :)

What's the tough decision brother? Get the biggest possible wheels you can fit on each corner. If they gotta be staggered then that's it ah :)

    fitment isnt the issue

.. I'll modify to fit 11's all round if I have to... no prob there :)

    I'm after what works better.
