When I start my car lately, I get a crazy load squeak that gets faster as I accelerate.
at idle, it will squeak like crazy until my car makes a sort of revving noise?
Like I've given it a little juice.

Once this happens, the squeak is gone :S

I have no idea whats causing this to happen and was wondering if you guys knew?

I think it might just be a shine on an old belt?
They all seem to be tight enough.

    Sounds like a loose belt.
Does the squeeling stop if you rev the engine?
Can you get the squeel to start again by turning the wheel to full lock?
or by turning on the air conditioner?

Check the condition of your belts and adjust as per the worshop manual.
Don't over tighten as this can cause damage to the bearings eg water pump.
an easy way to check if its a belt is to get a can of belt conditioner and a light spray on each of the belts while its squeeling. Be very careful of the FAN. If the squeeling stops you have found the loose belt, if not look elsewhere.

It could also be a damaged bearing in the alternator or the water pump.
Is there any leak around the water pump? or are you loosing water? Hows the temperature?

Last place is the timimg belt pullys and tentioners. Hope its not these.

oh god I hope its not the timing belts.
And yes, I found when I came around a round-a-bout :p the squeak started again.

When revving it just gets faster and goes away quicker.

I never have the aircon on as it doesn't work.

There is a small water leak but I'm pretty sure its the lower rad hoes.

Car temp is ok, its never been amazing, but its nothing troublesome.

I'll get some of this belt spray and see if thats it.

I am wondering if its just the belts getting a shine to them, but its weired because it goes away when something kicks in. (sounds like a second engine almost).
So this lead me to think its not the steering belt?

Indicating drive belts when varing revs and powering away

    Again drive belts

    Mine neither

Have a closer look, might be water pump. Too late if it lets you down.

    Something kicks in ??

The car starts and its doing its usual "blub blub blub blub" then it sounds like a fan? or turbo? or something 'whooshey' S:? kicks in..
And once this kicks in, the squeak stops?
I thought it was the cooling fan or something? I'm not really sure...
By the time I get out and to the engine the squeak is hard to locate.
Spesh when you cant see $#!% anyway :p

I'll try get a video of it if I cant pin point the problem.

Its pissing me off because I'm driving the car again as my GF ran up the ass of a ute -_- and I'm not adding panel beating to my list of half learned talents.

From you discriptions I'd put my money on the old fanny belt prob.
As you said, try the belt spray to confirm.

Sounds like the belt that drives the fan, alternator and the waterpump.

Either the belt needs tensioning or is just worn and needs replacing.
However, you say you have a water leak, which could be the water pump.

Better check it out properly rather than spraying sticky stuff on it. If the pump goes you could be in big trouble.

A quick way to find which belt it is is to spray a small amount of RP7 - CRC on each belt a minute apart until the noise goes away. The one that stops after the spray is your loose or knackered belt. Or take one belt off then go for a quick spin then keep on doing it until it goes away. Or tighten each belt and see if that helps. Put your car on stands to do the alternator belt as it makes it easy. BEWARE OF THE FAN when working around the belts and use the little nozzle on the crc so you can keep your hands back when spraying. Make sure engine is off when adjusting belts.
    Cheers Dave

I've never heard of the crc trick. Would that not promote slippage as well as possible damage to the rubber, but then with the new products on the market I'm not sure if fan belts are rubber anymore.

I wouldn't reccomend using any belt grip/belt spray etc. I used the belt grip stuff once and it killed my waterpump. Do the job right and make sure all your belts are nice and tight instead.

I'll just do the old soap bar trick ;P
    Nah just kidding.
I'm going for a drive soon, I'll see what belt it is.

And the water leak is super small...

    Damn GOOD advise !

An old belt is always going to break and let you down when you are in a hurry.
New ones tend not to break.

    :(

So I went out to find this belt and I started it up.. it squeaked.. then smoked, then made a "tik tik tik tik tik tik" noise that got faster as I accelerated.
I turned it off after like 10 seconds of being on and the smoke smells like plastic..

    WTF...

It hasn't done anything since I posted this thread, just sat there waiting..

So I'm carless untill I find whats wrong..

Jodies car is smashed up and mine is doingt his...

Ok. Its got like 0 water in it :S
So its been leaking out over night/day.

I put water back in it and it takes a little bit then leaks from about the middle of the engine bay at the bottom...
Directly below the center of the engine?

I don't know what hoes this is or where its coming from and I haven't been under it yet to see.

I don't know when it sprung this leak :S and its never had this much water missing, usually like a coke cans worth every week... now within a day its almost empty..

    What the hell?

    Edit
I filled it with water and put the cap on and it just leaks out...
    Is that the 'menafold' gone?

    Bump plus another question.

Do I need to remove the lights and or the side panels to get the front bar off?

Water pump seal stuffed or bypass hoses split/leaking.
Yes, remove indicator lights to access bolts: bar to guard.

Yes, sounds a lot like one/both bypass hose is gone.

These pics have been orientated so the top is the front of the car, left is left, right is right and bottom is the ass end.

My guess is that the squeak was the pump? and the pump has blown a gasket?
I have no idea, I'm just guessing.

Also, this leak is nothing but gravity, the rad cap is off and there is no pressure.

    Where to from here guys?

I'm having someone come out and replace every hose they can make and I'm also going to try and find a new water temperature gauge to connect to the empty pod in my car as I no longer trust my stock one :(
