Spray the latch with WD40 or CRC.

The sound could be coming from your bonnet stops.

These are rubber stoppers under the two front corners of your bonnet. They can be adjusted by simply twisting them with your hands, but they may fall apart due to age. They can also be bought new!

I lived with a squeaky bonnet for months. It was intermittent too, making it hard to fix. I even tried the stoppers and it didn't work!
Turns out I didn't wind them far enough. One day I tried again - problem solved!

    Adjust bonnet latch....

There are 3 bolts (or 4, can't remember) that hold the bonnet latch in place. Undo the bolts and move the catch mechanism down a few mm. This will hold the bonnet in place more firmly and elimate bonnet squeak.

Also either adjust or replace the two rubber stops at either end of the bonnet. This will also create a firmer hold on the bonnet.

In my experience it was not the rubber stops, nor was it the position of the catch. If I adjusted any of these the bonnet sat higher than the fenders and nose panel.

What I did was used rubber amalgamating tape and wrapped it once or twice around the latch (the loop on the bonnet that the catch grabs when you close the bonnet). Problem solved.

If you take note of your latch... You will see a polished or worn section. This is where the metal in the catch and the latch have been rubbing causing the squeak.
