    Hey guys,
I was wondering if a spare tyre from a 2+2 zed would fit a 2+0 zed?

    :confused::confused::confused:

It will fit the hub and you can drive on it, but it won't fit in the boot. The 2+0 requires a collapsible tyre to fit.

Is there any weight differnce between the alloy and steel versions ?

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

can you just deflate the 2+2 spare/tyre?

    maybe

You could try but I dont think it would loose enough of the diameter to fit. The 2 seater is designed with a smaller diameter spare wheel well so the spare was designed to collapse on the side walls to loose diameter when deflated, another reason the 2 seaters were given small compressors as part of the tool kit

The 2 seater deflated spare is designed to hold the bead and fold upon itself under deflation and storage. It also has an inbuilt release valve to deflate the tyre once it needsz to go back in the boot. This video shows it pretty well:

Thanks Ryan that is very cool, I have never seen that before.

Having more than 1 friend and requiring the need for more than 1 extra seat I did not know. :D

Interesting thing is in FAST this part only appears from 09/93 onwards on 2 seaters, pre this date there is no spare wheel listed for a 2 seater.

Also this compacting spare was only used on the Z32  , that is a lot of effort to design a alloy rim and a fancy tyre. To me it is an example of 2 things, 1) An interesting engineering work around and 2) They put enormous resource into designing and equipping the Z32, the thought and the detail that usually can not be seen appears as a novelty spare tyre.

I do not know if this idea had been used before on euro stuff or since, has anyone seen it used elsewhere ?

I had to use the collapsable spare once. Was feeling a little sketchy trusting the tire to stay together when I was inflating it. Yet it worked perfectly. :) rips a skid pretty easy too haha. But upon deflation it never really shrunk back to it's original shape like in the above video. Needed to bear hug it to make it shrink back. Also my rim was different to that one.

Yeah there are a few different part numbers, Mick/OZX_320 said his did not have the quick deflate valve on his.

When you look at the spokes on that rim it looks ridiculously out of balance, I wonder if that is to keep you from going too fast on it.

yellow space saver on my '91 slicky is same as on video, as is that on my '93 slicky.

Have had to use both once, and both deflated back to original shape. Agree with above, they spin quite easily when opposite to a 275... even in a NA auto :p

Our slick top 92 model, my old 90 model targa 2+0 and before that the red 89 slick all have the other yellow collapsable spare. The sort with the full faced steel rim.

Anyways. Op. If you need a spare to suit your model post up a want to buy thread. As surely someone will have one for you.

    Cheers.
