Hi Guys If you put 350Z etc brakes on the front of your 300zx and go to 18" wheels what do you do when you get a flat???? As the std space saver wheel will not fit over the brakes??? Can you get a 18" space saver?? Maybe a ford wheel??? Just wondered what happens with the guys with big brakes or do they phone a friend with a TOW TRUCK???

Goo in a can. Been meaning to buy some for ages. Another option is to put one of the rear wheels on the front and your space saver on the rear.

My flats are always rears for some reason so I've never had an issue with it

I too have pondered this thought (i have gtr33 brembos) and have too been meaning to buy some goo.

I removed my spare as it us useless...with a sub in the boot i literately cant fit a 265/35r18 into the car...but i still carry a jack and wheel spanner.

than ur screwed... nuh i dont know just felt like saying it..

but listen to crispy and get that goo in a can thing.. its very useful.. just fill up ur wheel with the can and u can drive it to the tyre shop and get to to fix it up for u...
that can can be bought at supercheap auto autobarh and most ofther places i keep one in my car just incase i get too lazy to change to the spare (btw i have no jack in my car didnt come with car) <-- cheap asses

    Here's my (untried) solution...>>>

I have a set of R33/34 GTR Rotors on the front of my Zed.

My front mags are a high disc design which are designed to clear both the calipers. My rear mags are a normal disc design.

What is "high disc" "normal disc" I hear you ask ???
A high disc has more material (metal) on the back side of the cetre part of the rim EG: the part which mates up on the hub.
More material means the the cetre of the wheel is pushed further out past the calipers.
BTW this has nothing to do with offset.

Because I run a normal disc on the rear, if I went to put it on the front I would have clearance issues with the calipers hitting the centre of the mag.

My first idea was to source a 17" space saver from a GTR but found them near impossible to find.

My solution was to buy 2 spacers, if I get a flat on the front I can then use a rear wheel with the spacers on the front & use the 16" space saver on the rear.

    Cheers

I was going to suggest the same thing, having spacers in the boot isnt expensive, nor does it take up much space, its a good short term fix for getting home/to tyre shop...just need to know what width to get to make the rears clear the front calipers...

  8. Benny_C

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

    here's an idea...

just get yourself 1 or 2 washer style rim spacers (that are about 5mm wide each). Keep them in your boot with your stock spare space-saver. If ever you need to use the spare on your fronts with upgraded brakes, just whack the rim spacer on before you bolt the spare on. This 'should' push the spare out far enough to clear the brakes.

I know these are not recommended, but seeing as though you are not supposed to go over 80kph and further than 100km's on a spare i think it'll last the distance, and work out as a cheap effective solution for you.

    Just my AUD$0.02 :zlove:

Before I bought my spacers I worked out what size I needed..>>

I ended up buying a pair of 7mm spacers off Ebay.

Although if Benny_C is on the money you can use the spacers with the original Space Saver. Nice one Benny_C.

    Cheers

You can use goo in a can

However when you go to repair the puncture they will not love you at the tyre shop. It will mean a strip down and clean. It will be cheaper to buy a spacer for the front if you have clearance issue when you use the rear tyre

    Plugging kit

I carry a tubless plugging kit and am going to get around to putting my little compressor in the car one day. Easy to use and doesnt goo up the rim. You can buy them from supercheap or any other car part stores.

How does "Goo In a Can", "Puncture Kits" or any other repair kit, help when the rim has been damaged, the tyre has de-laminated, or any other reason exists for needing a spare wheel?

If you need a bigger spare wheel for a 2+2(due to a brake upgrade) then get a bloody Supra spare.....THEY FIT(with a 10mm spacer).
