Holly crap! I had the biggest lump in my throat when i went to turn that ignition key!
After 2 years off the road and months worth of pain staking work rebuilding and thousands of dollars... My first ever full engine rebuild (done all on my own) and... She's alive!!!! :D :zlove:
    I almost cried!

And before you move this mods... i'll add a picture diary of the build to this thread shortly to make it relevant to tech.

Thanks everyone! and yeah a HUGE thanks to this forum, i could never have done it without this place! :zlove:
It's midnight and i've only just come back inside.

    I have another question though...

I did a boost leak test and found that after 5psi the intake pipe is leaking where it hose clamps to the turbo intake. It is very hard to get to this spot to tighten the clamp etc... does a leak in this spot matter very much anyway? will this affect the vacuum?

Well done and thanks for sharing.
It's great to hear some good news amongst reading all the " my car is farked " threads.

My Tech advice for dealing with that lump would be cold beer administered via your fuel inlet system. :D

I take it you mean the concertina pipe, which side ?
And yes, the leak needs to be sorted. I'm going through much the same process at the moment so I'm with you in spirit.

    Cheers & congratulations !

    Cheers mate :D

ah yeah its the plastic pipe running from the intercooler to the turbo intake (lower one) and its the one on the drivers side which is a real PITA to get to

I was hoping for your sake it was the LHS one.

You've probably realised that you'll need to unhook or remove some of the stuff that you've
painstakingly fitted in order to get at the leak. Did I mention cold beer yet ?

You're probably "tired but wired" at the moment but a bit of sleep helps, you'll breeze through it tomorrow.

Am I the only one here who thinks the I/C's should connect to the turbo OUTLET(not the INTAKE)?

I hope not, for everyone's sake

Just remove the turbo to i/c pipe (the correct one) and you should be able to get to the clamp with a 1/4 ratchet and 8mm socket.

mmm yes less than 5 hours sleep last night and work all day,and i'm not feeling much better, to much excitement last night! I'll give it a sanity break tonight and undo what i've already done to get to that bloody pipe tomorrow... grrrr
oh well i've got some piece of mind that it is all going to be ok now (quickly knocks on wood!)

    Cheers mate,
Yeah the LHS was leaking too, which was ok cos it was easy enough to get to, and when i fixed that i was like, "thank god it wasn't the other side", then i presurised it again only to discover that was leaking too! :(

    what a kufufle! :D

    All good mate.
With all the wacko posts on here lately(BOV's on cars with disabled turbo's...etc..etc)I was thinking you may have hooked it up in error.
Hope you get some real enjoyment from your hard work.:zlove::zlove:

So i've got the system pressurising to 9psi now, but i have a leak at the back of the engine (below intake plenum level i think) and i can't find it exactly. It is just to the drivers side of centre.
And i'm quite sure it is not the IAA unit or hoses. Seems to be around the heater hoses

far out man. your pressurising to 9psi your going to start blowing seals out if you havent allready.... did you reseal your exhaust cam covers....

ive fired the boost cont out of the T peice on 6psi before.. 9 is way 2 high..

you should be pushing it to 5psi maximum
