Hey guys, I done a booboo. I accidentally snapped my key in the boots barrel and I dont have a spare key. The car is in a dodgy shopping centre car park and I dont want to leave it there overnight.

I have central locking so breaking in it isnt necessary just need to know how to start it without the key and make sure the steering lock doesn't activate while driving it back home.

Can someone PM me some info please?

All I can offer is call a locksmith. They can do a mobile visit and extract the broken bit.
They'll then make a replacement key to get you on the road.
Its surprising what these guys can do.

Hmmm I would call a locksmith ASAP and he will be able to retrieve the snapped off bit and make a key for you, no breaking stuff and you have a key job done.

Being 4PM in WA I would get onto it, as after 5PM they will probably rape you.

Either lock smith or call a tow truck or someone with a trailer to get you home then you can sort it out

you can hot wire the car, but youll still have no steering coz of the steering lock. your getting a tow id say mate, sorry to say.

call anytime towing, ive used them and they are great, and can do low cars.

Pretty damn cheap. The car is literally 2 minute drive away from my home. My brother is good mates with a towie and would probably do it for me for sfa.

Any idea if I can just swap over the barrel from an S13? my brother bought a new drifter I don't think he would mind if I took it as we are going to make it push start anyway.

    Had an idea !

Go into the shopping centre to the Mister Minit or whatever key guy is in there and ask if he will zip out to the car park and jag the key out and cut one ,,,, MAYBE FOR THE PRICE OF A KEY CUT, brought to you buy cheap bastard enterprises.

Or ask to borrow his needle nose pliers or tool to jag it out.

    misszen Red ones go faster!

Yep exactly - that's why locksmith is really your only option
unless you can borrow a barrel and fit it - I dont know about the S13 barrel fitting

worst comes to worst - sleep in your car - dont take the risk as the TT's in particular are popular with the joyriding criminal kind and they normally burn it out so you dont get anything back -

I have slept with our TT before.

good luck - hope you got a locksmith in time

Can you get the key out of the lock barrel? I've seen it happen before, where the driver snapped the key but had both pieces, so we got the door open, put the first part of the key in the ignition and gently worked the barrel with the handle part until they lined up inside so we could turn the car on and start the car!

    Egg ....

    4 digit key-code?

If you have the code you can get another cut. :)

How does one get their hands on this code?

take your correct v.i.n and rego papers to nissan, and you can probably pay them for it.

But the short code needs to be matched to a much longer code to actually cut the key which may not even be available.
