On Christmas day I took a charge up Arthur's Seat (a big hilll for those who aren't fortunate enough to know it). After a minute or two of hard uphill work I pulled over and noticed some smoke coming from under the car. What could this mean? I didn't take it as a sign of something wrong and the car didn't miss a beat all day. Car is a stock NA
Not really sure. There wasn't clouds of it. It seemed sort of grey or yellow. But I don't really know.
I would think your valve covers are leaking and oil seeped out and dropped onto your oxygen sensors/exhaust system. Which would have smoked up and wafted out underneath if enough. Think about it. Hard run up hill, leaking at the rear. Hot, thin oil. Hot exhaust. Plausible. I know ours does this a bit if you give it the beans and especially up hills. If it were a cooked clutch you would definitely know that smell.
I didn't notice any smell at all. But that doesn't mean there wasn't one. I assumed clutch as well, without really having any idea. It is a manual. Is a smoking clutch anything to dwell on?
Scott, did Arthurs seat on Boxing Day without any smoke Check around your exhaust system especially headers for anything leaking onto it. Could be just a dodgy cam cover seal pouring oil onto your stock manifold.
