Last night I was driving down the highway, over the speed limit  and saw that the next set of lights were red. A car pulled in front of me, so if I had slammed on the brakes I would've run up the back and it would be "I wrote the Z off" thread.
So I had to accelerate to get in between the car in front and the car next to me. This took me even faster so when I tried to brake I completely lost traction and slid past two other cars, through the red light, and into the traffic island.
My new 18" chrome rim took the brunt of the hit, so at least nothing else got damaged. I went back this morning, but I can't find the lock nut key for the rim so I cant even put a spare on. (Is there a way to get locknuts off without the key?)

Now I'm just praying the axel isn't bent as well. If it is, whats the cost for getting that fixed/replaced?

This thread is just a reminder that no matter how confident you feel in the Z, bad things always happen when you speed in traffic.

so at least nothing else got damaged.

Mate if i were you, id be looking at the upper and lower arms,( im assumeing this was rear wheel damage)
they bend real easy, cant help with lock nut remove.
the axel should be alright, it takes serious force to bend that.

Dude hate to say it, but.....

.... stop driving like that, especially this time of year!. Its a bad time of year for being on the road and we need to be on extra guard for nasty surprises while driving (you dont want to have you memorial in the christmas season  ).
As for the damage, you will need to climb under your car and measure up your control arms(lengths, angles etc) to see if they have been bent or damaged. You can compare with the undamaged side.
If you have a welder you can weld a nut on the end of the lock nut to get it off.

Re: NO ABS... I have a question!

I've been testing mine of late and found that when i lock my brakes. They seriously lock. There is no anti-lock to them at all.

They lock on and just slide the car... Been driving me banana's.

Is something wrong with my braking system or what am i missing?

Man, how hard were you pusshing em?

Ifound that loocking the wheels was possible at slower speeds 60-80kph, but from 120-200kph on the track offcourse, didnt matter how much preasure was applied
i couldnt lock the the stock brakes, if anything the car went faster:LOL:so it depends on how fast you were
traveling imo.there may also be somethig wrong with your abs, i ended up replaceing rotors pads and
got some s/s lines, chilli brace and bleed the system including the abs, its 100% better than the stock
    clobber.

If you have (working) ABS, your brakes should not lock and stay locked.

ABS works by detecting a break of traction, and when traction loss is detected, braking force is reduced to that wheel. When I test mine from time to time, I feel a pulsation through the brake pedal which is "normal and healthy".

In fact, when I copied some Brake maintenance videos for TAFE to DVD a while ago, it stated that the most efective braking effect on a vehicle was when the wheels were losing traction at no more than 10-20 percent.

In effect, if you were able to look at your wheels, they would be locking and unlocking many times a second.

If you apply your brakes, and they just lock and you skid, you either don't have ABS, or it doesn't work :(

Looks like I need a new rear suspension assembly :(

If anyone knows of someone that has one please let me know!!! :(
Even if no one has one, if someone can give me a rough price of what they usually go for.
