I have a small slow leak that seems to come from just under the center coil pack on the right hand side of the motor (when facing car from front). It drips then hisses on something hot. Its really slow, but its still a drip. I cant tell what it is, or where its coming from and was wondering if anyone knew what it COULD be or how I could go about finding it... I'd like to be able to see an engine already out of the car to narrow it down and I just dont want to have to pull the engine for a problem that could be an easy fix,.
Rocker cover? Plenum off job to retighten them but not too bad in the scheme of things... First thing you want to do is clean it up as much ad you can so as you can pinpoint the leak.
I don't think the leak will be visible unless I pull a lot of shit out... I'm kind of hoping for a "oh that,, yea that's a T$#^^#^, happens all the time" Then I can go about it. But its just so slow, and so hidden I'm scared I'll have to pull the engine after just having serviced and fixed everything for the past 6 months... It looses a minuscule amount of water after driving for a little bit, haven't driven it in 6 months but its running soooooo good, 10x better than it ever has... Its just disappointing that after so long and all my hard work there is now a new unknown small problem
If its a hiss it's more like a water leak driping onto something hot so nothing to do with a rocker cover. Sounds like your Z hasn't had the under plenum hoses removed and by-passed so i'm guessing you need a plenum pull and hoses by-pass ( tech day ). Cheers Dave
small slow leak ..... !!!! could be an age related issue ... a very old Forum mate in NSW has had this problem for years ... and it is reported that it gets him several times a night ...
