    hey guys

one of the small coolant hoses at the back of the engine has a small pin prick hole and is leaking water

the hose is about 10cm or so long and is very easy to get to...how it got a pin brick hole in it is beyond me...i came home and noticed my engine bay was steaming lol

anyway as i dont have any other hoses other than the 6mm blue silicon hose from caz, can i use this as a replacement??

if not how can i "plug" the hole till i get some proper hose this weekend

carmate artin ,they now do hose repairs lmao :D :D :D
but i wouldnt be using silicon hoses on coolant, they may melt or at least expand ,my suggestion is to park your baby until fixed :)

Too much pressure for tape, and do not use stop leak, everything will be blocked if you do,your only safe way out is to replace the hose ;)

You can buy silicon coolant hoses...

I have one on my overflow bottle.

Seconded, you can indeed get silicon coolant hoses. I'm currently doing a whole car's coolant system in aluminium and silicon.

Plus just sold a heap of silicon water bypass hoses.

Are you talking about the heater core hoses or the ones going under the plenum?

nah ive done the under plenum bypass so dont have a single hose under there (thank god)

its at the back of engine drivers side, just under the plenum, surprisingly very easy to get too, i could change it right now, alas no hose!! :(

the way i read his post ,he was asking if he could use caz's silicon vac hose, and the answer still is ,no
your overflow bottle does not have the pressure of an engine coolant hose

    I was replying to chad...

Who said not to use silicon hoses for water. You can use silicon hoses for any of the coolant lines if it is designed so.
Just to clear it up, Caz can get a hold of the stuff too :p

    carzone in the corner crying!

artin you can use some high quality fuel line. Im using this and its heat resistant and flame resistant also it has an exterior to handle 150 degrees celcius. Its a gates hose and is the bees knees but its very $$$$

Pliers and a flat head screw driver destroy hose clamps good, 2 minutes to twist em out! :p
