Hey guys, i dont meant to be a pain in arse, ive looked and cant find what im looking for. Anyway, has anyone had any experience in doing a Big single turbo conversion to a Z32? Would no longer be a street car so thats not a worry.. ANY information would be highly appreciated. Cheers as usual guys
to be honest with the twin throttle body we have it would be a pita. the easiest way is the older engine from a Z31 but you lose all the pros we have in our engine (I also think it would be near impossible to get legal) the last issue is routing the exhaust to a location that supports a single turbo, again monster pita.
Thats the issue i was thinking of is routing the exhaust. Does 260DET run the Z31 or Z32 motor? if i was to go single turbo i would get a custom plenum made up, megga bucks though!
VG30Det i do believe they where limited release in the last year of the z31, weather or not thats true idk think i heard it on here somewhere... before that z31 motors where vg30et

Z31's are VG30et. The bottom ends are the same but heads and intake are different. Some limited numbers of Z31s ran RB20's but I'm not aware of VG30det's. For the trouble, it's just easier to go bigger twins but if you really want to go single, run the Cima intake (upper and lower because the ports are different to Z32) which runs both throttle bodies to one side, or ditch the upper plenum and have a single fabricated to mate with the lower. Z31 engine but obviously modifyed. Here's another This is the VG of a Cima, note the intakes upper and lower. Z32 single conversion but this isn't in a Z.
Another option You could always contact Chris (Ezzupturbo), He has done the VQ 30 single turbo conversion in his z32. Andy
that is an F***ING MACHINE! love the set up.. highley reccomend others look at this workmanship! truely amazing!
Yep i know all the differences and that z31's run VG30et's... EDIT.. There was a z31 called the 300zr which actually ran a VG30de
the were called 300zr's and they ran a vg30de Non - turbo from factory........i beleive they had a similar intake system to the single turbo version. i am 100% certain there were no vg30det turbos in the z31
Get a VG30DET engine for its intake and exhaust systems, unless you want to fabricate everything. The standard DET exhaust manifolds are not bad, the good thing is they are set up for a twin scroll turbo which will give quicker spool and more power than a standard single scroll turbo.
The VG30det wont fit ionto a Z32 with the stock zorst manifolding unless you want to either pull the entire engine/transmission forward or modify the firewall for clearance. To fit a VG30det into a zed, make either this: Or use the RHS headers from an NA. And then fit something like this: And boost away! Vrooom...pssshhhhttt L8r E
Another place to look is the US. I remember a few years back now it was a bit of a common thing to do to Zs there. Not sure why or anything and you'd have to find someone who'd done it most likely because it was sort of before the info was all out there on the web. Sounds cool anyway, have fun
I think i wouldnt go to all that effort to put the VG30ET into a Z32 Chassis, but if there were a way to single turbo the VG30DETT in a Z32 chassis i would be all over it cheers for the helpfull info guys!
Yeh good point Tass, front mount FTW. Actually thinking about it there is not much point in going from TT to a single in a Z32, be better off spending the money on whats already there.
