Guys, the time has come where i am very confussed as to whether i should sell my Z. I love it to death. However it is standard and i wanted to do some work to it, and every person i speak to says sell it and get a Silvia or 180sx, as they are way easier to work with! I want to get just the basics, FMI, boost controller, pod, blow off valve etc, but even thats too hard for the ppl i've spoken to!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know of a good mechanic that LIKES working on our cars???

No one likes to work on them - but don't sell just cause the

people you HAVE spoken to say so... I have no mechanical experience and I put the POD in myself - I'm sure you could too... FMIC is mabe a bit excessive to do yourself, but alot of it you can. There's plenty of info on this site to help you thru any work you try...

I say - stick with the Z - they're tops... Way too many 180's and S13's already on the streets...

    Hey Pamela....

there are a number of workshops in WA that different forum members will recommend for that work. Alternatively, go hit scotty up and he should be able to do most of that within about an hour.

Boost Controller and Pod Filter are simple tasks, BOV's take a little bit of time, but are doable in a morning and the front mount you might want to get installed professionally.

At the end of the day how many Silvia's and 180's do you see.....a dozen a day. How many zeds, and further to the point, how many cars with the class, styling and speed of the zed do you see everyday. Case made.

    Think about it.

If the people you talk to say it is too hard to work on.....>>

You need to find better people to talk to. All of the things you listed are items that can easily be installed by the home mechanic. Get some beer and some snags for the BBQ and get a few of the local Zed owners over for an afternoon and they can knock it over for you.

Don't sell it because some mechanic wants you to make it easier to get money out of you.:(

    Agreed

Don't sell because others say to get this and that, believe it or not there ARE places in perth to get stuff done, better still some forum members are willing to help others put in their stuff!

To be honest i haven't done major major work to the engine, i've been to Cypher Endustries down in Myaree who helped install my S-AFC2, but then again its inside the car and not in the engine bay, but they did know what they were doing and have said they've worked on Z's before!!, so does X-Speed in O'Connor, just 2 i can think off at the top of my head

When members from WA read this im sure they will point you in the right direction to go in terms of shops, otherwise give a PM to ZisLuv, FranZ, just two members that come to mind who have had lots of stuff done under the bonnet

Its up to you in the end, but with a bit of guidance you can get stuff done here in Perth :)

    Cheers

    Mike

I'm happy to help with the POD.....I've seen a boost controller

being installed, but don't know all the in's and outs. Best to contact scotty (ZWEET aka BlackiceTT....or something like that) and organise it with him.

i'd do anything for a girl... ohhh a girl.. *runs* teeeheheheheheehhe

hey, seriously though, have a go at installing the pod filter yourself, look at the tech article, it is a REALLY easy job to do, and if it's the first time you've touched the car or any car for that matter, i could imagine the gratification you would after doing it all by yourself, when these so called 'mechanics' said its too hard, you could go around there and tell them a girl did it.. so give it a go, if not someone off here will do it, takes 5 mins

Talk to Dave at Precise Auto

9409 1226. They do a lot of work on 300s mine included. They are in wangara about 25mins drive up wanneroo rd. Most of the stuff your after is fairly easy though, like wykked said, organise a BBQ and a zed meet and get some regulars around to help you out. Im only around the corner also.
