Iv hade the saw kit running in my z for the last week or so and today when i got home i noticed the H was flashing on my guage. So i left the car for a while and let it all cool down and then took it for a drive and it started flashing again after about 10 - 15 mins of driving.

Iv got an aftermarket oil cooler fitting to the gearbox and its had a valve upgrade and has a high stall converter in it so my question is why is my gearbox overheating?

Has anyone else had this problem with there SAW kit? any info would help, thank in advance.

The boxes do run alot hotter with the SAW kit.
How big is ur cooler ? driving hard?
also how big is the stallie? if u were doing alot of low speed driving with the stallie slipping all the time it will get very hot, adding a SAW kit to that and it gets hotter again.
I think ur cooler is to small .

Iv got a B&M 'Supercooler' Transmission Cooler kit installed, purchased from Caz http://www.cazracing.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=106

My converters got a more stall i it, stall is 2800, what type of cooler you think i should be looking for for the type of setup im running?

Is the cooler installed in series with the radiator/tranny cooler from factory?

That cooler should be more than adequate.
I would be looking at how its hooked up.

I just took off the nose panel and had a look and whats been done is the old oil cooler has been taken out the new one has just been put in place with the same lines. Is this incorrect? How does everyone else have theres hooked up?

    thanks, matt

After installing the new gearbox with high stall converter the car felt alot stronger and meaner to drive with crisp gear changes but now with the saw kit installed it really has made it all unleash its full potential, I have beter take off and punchy gear changes that throw you in your seat, i love it :p

My only issue now is keeping it all nice and cool

    You have a front mount?

Just throw some coolers where your side mounts used to be.

with the saw kit alone it changes gears more aggressively in auto mode vs the stock without the kit

and in manul mod it shifts even stronger again

add a fully rebuilt auto tranny with a shift kit and supporting strong mods and you ahve a monster :D :D :D

Also, Is it installed before or after the stock, if it IS inline with the stock one.

Also, have you been using "5th" gear? With the SAW kit, 5th is your lockup from memory. If you haven't it might also explain higher temps.

No, the standard cooler is in the radiator, the oil coolers you have replaced is the engine oil cooler.

I have been using lockup, bt most of the time i drive it in auto mode and that uses lockup aswell so that cant be the problem. With the cooler i dont have the stock one anymore, it has just been replaced with the new one in the same spot behind the FMIC. Maybe i should invest in another cooler and mount it on the side where the old stock cooler where?

if that is the case........if thats what 300_zexy has done then that explains it

it is recommended you upgrade to a trans cooler before installing the saw kit as it does make the box work its ass off :)

any good trans cooler and you will never have a problem with it :)

Arhh bingo, theres my problem! replacing the oil cooler with the b&m should be ok like that shouldnt it? So basiclly ill grab myself a new cooler and tap it into the transmission line that comes out of the radiator? is that correct?

Exactly. Since I have a FMIC like you, I mounted my additional Trans cooler where the Drivers side SMIC used to be.
