My 91 TT manual has had a vibration ever since I bought it. Ive had it in to be looked at twice now and so far they've only changed the center bearing. Well it's actually gotten worse since then so I seriously believe its the uni's as I can actually hear the uni knock when slowing down. (Low speed) Ive also been told I may have a delaminated tyre or crap wheels? Im doubting this as they are all brand new and well balanced. Ive seen the same wheels on many cars and never heard of a problem like this yet?

At @55kph the vibration starts and continues quite violently up till @95kph where it steadies out a bit. It also tends to get a bit better once the car is hot as Im presuming the expansion tightens things slightly?

Im tired of hearing my whole car vibrate and teeth chatter! My dash has developed a few new squeeks which I hope will go away once this is all settled.

A second problem since day one is extreme heat in the cabin. And I mean EXTREME.... I cant even touch the gear shift shaft after 1/2 hour driving!! Ive had the 3" dumps heat wrapped but no real change. Could the drive shaft vibration cause this kind of heat in the box? Ive got redline gear oil in but Ive noticed low gears hard to find when hot (Ive also had a short shift fitted) Ive been told all heat sheild are still present so thats not it.

    Thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated!

Perhaps g/box mount may be the problem. Engine mounts are they OK?

If not I would say uni joints on tail shaft.

I too had the same problem.
Both engine mounts were wrecked + g/box mount sagged and front tyre out of round!

Fixed all except the driver side engine mount & still have a small vibration remaining. I now suspect universal Joints b/c there is a noise present when the car moves regardles of load.
Will get around to it one day.

    IB ?????

Heat could be shifter boot ...>>

The rubber boot for the shifter is probably not correctly fitted to the transmission hump allowing hot air and noise in.

As geron said, check the gearbox and engine mounts for the vibration. If they're OK then probably driveshaft.

To check tyres, see if you can borrow a set from a fellow zed owner. Only take an hour to change, test and then change back.
