Yup, series 2 has a 3 rib crank pulley for the PS pump as the hicas is electric... Series 2 has a different lower plenum, heads, injectors, fuel rail, VCT gears, cams and CAS. Thats about it as far as I'm aware... That being said, I'm running a series 2 lower plenum, series 2 injectors, rail etc on a series 1 engine and heads so many of the bits are interchangeable... Why the question dude?
is there any difference power wise, i assume relaibilty slighty difference, and whats the difference with the upper plenum? jamie. just doing some research as hoping to get another zed soon or motor. i find aqnd think to get to know more about these awesome machines is to take a motor apart and rebuild it with new gaskets, new valves etc.
IMO the reliability difference would be negligible. Either will be fine if you look after it. Power is the same. Some say the S2 heads are better to start with for big porting. The late model plenums have a slightly different casting around where it bolts to the lower plenum to clear the S2 injectors.
If u can find a series 2 engine, I'd recommend it... Bigger choice of injectors (non remanufactured that is) Better VCT gears Better heads? But guess it depends on budget etc.
with engine out . series 2 will have 48P on the heads series 1 will have 40P with engine in torch and mirror nissan changed to series 2 as its a much better fuel setup/design (heads/ lower plenum,injectors)...

They also have different fuel rail, upper plenum, adjustable cams and tps...know this from Dean's zed...so maybe try his build thread for some engine bay pics Abraham
So is there no hassle matching s2 heads to a forged block? A block is a block is a block? The only differences are from the lower plenum etc. upwards? Can someone confirm?
Ok, so taking the piss. I'm not worried, I admit I know nothing mechanically hence why I ask questions. I have a built block and am looking for heads, that is all I meant. If I have to be the butt of people's mirth in order to learn then so be it.
