VIC SANDOWN BEGINERS TRACK DAY 21/09/2008

ok guys this is a really good idea for people wanting to jump out on a real track without the full race spec requirements for the first time.

this is not a race, nor is it timed. you will not be rewarded for going the fastest around the track. it is a chance to go out and learn things about your car and best of all have some fun with your sports car.

for all i care you could go 60kms around the track the whole day....its about getting out there and doing something about it... so for all you n/a people who think this would not be for them, well your wrong come out and have some fun...go at your own pace.

good thing about this day is that your not on your own. so for beginers its the best track day to start with....

there are professional instructors on hand. they will come out with you on a few laps and go through everything with you while you drive. how to take the corners and how to break etc.

then you are on your own and can stay on your own for the rest of the day.... if you need help from any of them they are waiting for you on hand in the pits. just go there pick them up and continue for some points and help from the experts....

you will get heapsss of track time. the day is cut up into 3 groups each have 20minutes of track time every hour. we will all be put in one group.

now its up to you how you handle your car. you could go for a hard lap and then a cool down lap, go hard the whole day, or go nice and peacefully all day. its really up to you what you do and how fast you go. so if you dont think your car is up to scratch to handle top speed cornering etc then seriously dont bother trying it. just go at your own pace and dont try and be a hero. the last thing we want to see is someone drive off the track because they took their car beyond its capabilities.

peter black just went on this day on the 20/6/08. so for more info check his thread in post events section. he highly reccommends this day and had a ball...he drives an n/a so you can see how good it is even to take them on the day.

now the day is $245. this includes food/lunch on the day. nothing more to pay. no sort of racing licence needed to obtain. no cams licence no aasa licence etc.

i will continously update this thread as i get more emails from them. im just finalising a few things including whether they have helmets available and if fire extinguishers are needed etc. also to see if passengers are allowed in the car. and anything else for that matter.

THE DAY WILL BE HELD LATE SEPTEMBER on a weekend. so this is when it will be. we do not have deifnate dates as yet as they do not have dates for late september set in yet. they will get back to me as soon as they update their calender. reason i choose late september is so we can go when the weather is better...also it gives everyone heaps of notice to get into gear.

would be best to go through your car before this. we may chuck a tech day previous to this, just for change of break pads/rotors, oil, and a quick service and check up etc...obviously you should check that your tyres are roadworthy aswell....details after discussion will follow...

sandown racecourse is on princes hwy in sandown. if you dont know where that is it, its next door to dandenong and noble park. s.e.suburbs of melb...

This is a great day with a huge amount of track time for your money and really good instructors if you want them.

pretty pricy IMO but since you don't need cams or any other crap related it's tolerable.

i've been on a similar track day like this before. WELL worth the money, trust me. Hopefully the track isn't wet, i'll see if i can muster some money up by then. And getting the net back in about a week too so i can post whore once more. Hurrah!
