    hey all,

as u can guess my zed has decided to go into safety boost and i dont know why.
the ecu reads code 55 - all good..
it had normal boost yesterday morning going into work but not coming home, and i dont think putting a viper alarm in it would cause it to do that.

    any ideas?

What makes you think it's in safety boost mode?
Fitting the alarm - did that involve some work in the rear left corner of the engine bay? ( as seen from the front )
Check all the vac lines & fittings in that area, see if something got disturbed.
You might just have a boost leak from a bad vac line.

ok ill go have a look now in that area
but we did actually run most the wires for it thru the guard.
and its only hitting 6psi, and that is a safety mode thing

if one of the boost solenoids has been accidentilly disconnected will that default him to factory wastegate settings? ie ~7psi opening on that turbo?

I checked all the lines in that corner and also the main air intake and it all is fine... I need to take it for a drive but to see first if I cleared it or not... Just gotta wait for someone to come over who can drive it... Police don't like me doin it on suspended green p plates.. :(

i just took it for a drive to work this morning and still only getting 6psi boost out of it on the guage.... is there anything hidden away so not easily seen so i can check it all on the weekend or wednesday as i have the day off like most people will... and i aint got nothing else to do.. thats as important :zlove:

6psi on what gauge? check every single vacuum/boost line, the clamps around the turbo outlets, intercoolers, plenum. Make sure your boost solenoids are connected, if they arent you'll be in safety boost if you arent using an EBC/MBC. Check for error codes again.

If your in safety boost you should get an error code of some sort unless your boost solenoids arent bleeding off.

6psi on the oem boost guage on the dash. im going to check all the boost lines on wednesday and also remove the t-piece boost controller which i have turned off but still in the vac line. i just find it odd that it was going fine untill we fitted the alarm on saturday, unless threading the siren cables thru the fender has bummed something behind there but ill pull it off on both sides to try and find it

Edit: the is a MBC so it might be the problem.. sorry i re read what u said

Stock boost gauge isnot in psi, generally, if the stock gauge reaches max value, that's about 14psi.

Also, if u have installed a boost controller, it will be running low boost until you disconnect the stock solenoids.

Exactly!! theres your problem man, the boost controller needs to be able to hide boost pressure from the wastegate actuators. Your wastegates will be open at something like 6psi, if the MBC is wide open.

If the MBC is wide open ie, not blocking or bleeding off boost then reconnect your stock solenoid 12v connectors and you'll get your stock 9psi back for now.

It sounds like he has the mbc inline but not resticting pressure to the actuator causing 6psi cos he should at least have 9 psi if the stock solenoids were still connected.

i see what ur getting at man and ill play with it on wednesday.
and yeh the mbc is turned off so not bleeding the system but it only started doing it saturday after the alarm install... ive havent touched the mbc for weeks.. and if the stock guage isnt in psi then its hitting 6 on it whatever its in.. but when the mbc was in use it was going straight to +7 and it would drill u into the seat, which i thought woulda been around the 12-14psi mark.. im not sure but i have been told the mbc can spike unlike the ebc's so im gunna install a profec into it once i can afford one.
im kinda new to the whole having turbo's thing so yeh thats why im asking so many questions.. sorry if im being a pain.. :(

We all started somewhere mate, dont worry about it. Maybe the person who installed your alarm reconnected the stock solenoids?

On either side of the plenum theres a 12v connector, black ones with a bit of red. May take some digging around cos they're down near the turbo outlet pipes parallel to the plenum, these need to be disconnected for your MBC to work. If your MBC is set to 12psi, the stock solenoids will bleed off your boost at 9psi and cause the boost spiking.

I used a TurboTech MBC for a year without any spiking ever, disconnecting the stock solenoids is a must! imo people with spiking suffer it cos they do not disconnect the stock boost controlling system.

Been using a Turbo Smart E-boost Steet for a year now too and its the best EBC I have ever seen for such a low cost.

mate i was helping with the alarm install and i dont even know where the stock solarnoids are..lol.. all i know with the boost controlling and vac system atm is i have a mbc which i turned off cause i dunno where its set at or how to really tell as i only have the stock guage atm, and it goes to the balance pipe from down near the battery on the pass side and the other end of the vac line seems like it heads down to that side turbo.. so i dunno wats going on with it which is y i wanna check it incase its only hooked up to one turbo cause the previous owner didnt know how to install it or if thats right then i dunno... still learning
