Hi guys, Its been a while since I have been online but I return with bad news. My car got written off last weekend the day after my birthday, good news is that everyone was okay and no one was injured but my car is a total write off. The insurance company have told me that I get to keep the wreck, and so now I was just wondering if anyone could help me with figuring out how much the wreck would be worth? The car was hit on the drivers side so basically the only thing that was damaged was the side panels, so no damage to the motor or driveline. The car had the following list of goodies. Twin turbo with Trust TD04 16g turbos engine rebuilt about 30,000 kilometers ago Nismo 550 injectors Nismo fuel pump Mines Cpu Tomei 1.2mm Metal headgasket Blitz EVC (mechanical boost controller) OS twin plate clutch Pod Filter Twin ARC bov's ARC side mount intercoolers Kakimoto twin Stainless steel exhaust (that sounded awesome) Cusco tension rods Noltech Adjustable upper arms Hicas lock out bar 17x9 inch Buddy club P1 racing type 2 rims Bilstein shocks (rear shocks had just been rebuilt) Gauges, Aftermarket steering wheel etc. I loved this car and it was a Hoot to drive, I did one Dyno day and the car made 287Kw on 16 pounds with standard intercoolers. I had used the car twice at a supersprint and it made some impressive times around eastern creek fastest being a 1.49.17 which is not slow. If anyone has any insight into how much the whole lot would be worth can they let me know, or if anyone is interested in taking my goodies and putting them into another shell can they give me an email and we will go from there. Thanks from Andrew K
sorry to hear mate... maybe keep everything and reshell what you can, i'm sure you can find a decent rolling shell for a 2-3k. http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/NISSAN/300ZX/Queensland/csn7133374.aspx you could grab that for 3.5k, you have pretty much everything you need to get your old zed back reshelled. i'm guessing your old zed was insured for a decent amount, it would be a hassle on your part but if your good with your hands and know a thing or two i'm sure you could transfer your engine, exhaust ect to a new shell in a couple weeks. dont give up yet...:zlove:
wtf? It's listed at 5500, not 3500. Once my car is perfect i'm going to have to watch out for the low ballers!! Yeesh
its called negotiation. what are you talking about, its an early model, automatic with 211xxx on the clock. just because someone is asking 5k dosnt mean it will sell for 5k. i got my zed for 5.5k, the dealership was asking for 8.5 and i negotiated with them to get it for the price I was willing to pay. get over yourself, stop waiting for me to post so you can have a go at me.
lol that's a bit uncalled for? When did i last have a go at you? I'd laugh if somebody offered me 3500 for a running zed. Tell em to get effed and part it out. There's negotiation, and then there's 'lowballing'. edit: also, it's got nothing to do with 'you'. If my best mate came on here and said the same thing i'd take a stab that him too. I can't see how you can instantly say 'you'll get this for 3500'. Which is almost 40% off. End of financial year sale?
All depends how inclined you are to sell, a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing... When i had my zed i got it for 9k, the dealer was originally asking 14k for it...
exactly, its 2k off the price. i've got a ute for sale atm, brand new rebuilt engine and gearbox, really good condition ect. i've got it advertised for $6.5k, i'm only expecting $5000 if it sells. thats the thing with sales, you have to expect people will not want to pay exactly what YOUR asking.
Depends how keen you are to sell it. You can hold onto it and wait for someone to pay what you think it's worth or sell it quickly for a bit less.
i got my first TT Zed for 3.5k running, spent a few grand fixing it up over a year and sold it for 10k making a profit
That one is sold. Somebody bought it the day I was going to go look at it (the day after it was listed).
Sorry to hear Andrew, not a very good birthday present. I can attest to this as being a very quick Zed, as having watched it perform at Eastern Creek. As others have said, Try to pickup another one and transfer your gear across.
Agree with the pricing thing. I sold my NA for 9k and the next day a young lady called who said she would buy my zed today full asking price asap.... so I lost $600 and the girl. wait it out I say.
Sorry for your loss man. Unfortunatly Im going to have to join the vutures. If you want to sell the exhaust im very interested. PM me.
Agreed. By another cheapie and as long as it is straight, marked as registerable and not stolen, transfer everything across. If you've got room for a shell of a car, you'll be able to sell lots with all of the random parts that people want, when you are finished.
if you do reshell, you will be getting your insurance money, spend maybe 4k on a straight zed and what ever tools you need to swap you running gear over. then part out whatever is left f the original zed to the vultures(lol) and sell the old engine/gearbox that was in the replacement shell. you easy looking at 6k+ if your zed was insured for what it should be. dont pass on this opportunity, hopefully you will never get the chance to reshell it again.
