Hey :) I recently bought a used S2 PTU, and plan to change it over when I do my 100k service in the Christmas holidays. The thing is it didn't come with a mounting bracket. Is it possible to buy one of these separately from Nissan without the rest of the S2 PTU kit (and without getting a mortgage out to pay for it:rolleyes:) Or would I be best trying to find one on the forum or even make one? I have no idea about making stuff like this... don't have many tools and wouldn't really know where to start. Any ideas?

Also it came with the 2 connectors but the wires have just been cut. Would I be best to cut the wires leading into my S1 PTU and solder the new connectors in? Or is it better to get some male/female splade type connectors or something?

Its no rush, my S1 PTU is still going strong for now. Cheers :zlove:

    just buy the kit

you should be able to get the wring kit and bracket for not too much, the PTU and kit is only $260 so the bracket and wire would be maybe $50. Try Caz or TTZ. I think you want this but without the PTU PTU kit

i just screwed mine in with 1 bolt, holds up fine, if your that worried relocate it to the front near front passenger head light, drill some holes in and bolt it in over there, if not as others said just buy the kit

I am in a similar situation (have a S2 PTU and nothing else) so if you could get a GB going on that kit from TTZ minus the S2 PTU then I would be interested!

I soldered the S2 PTU into the original loom...

I plan on relocating the PTU soon, and won't be needing the bracket

Cheers mate, good call. I will message Caz and Simon to see if they can sell the kit minus the actual PTU itself. :)

I will check, but there probably won't be enough people wanting just a S2 kit minus the ptu for them to do a group buy...I might be wrong though. Either way I'll let ya know :)

Oh really?:D well if I can get the kit minus the PTU at a good price from Caz or elsewhere I will just do that, but if not I would be more than happy to take the bracket of your hands once you no longer need it :) If not, I am sure that taszed or someone in a similar situation would be interested. :zlove:

All you need to do is get the part number for the bracket which i know as ive got the kit at home. Then you could quote the part number and pay for just the bracket. Ill post up the part number tomorrow when i can.

Do you connector wires look like this:

Conversion leads that convert series 1 PTU plugs to Series II

Series II plugs that are wired directly into the loom

    Installing conversion plugs is quick.

Removing the Series I plugs and soldering the Series II plugs directly into the loom is much better IMO - less connections to oxidise and/or fail.

    Cheers,

    Peter

Hey Peter, here is a pic of what I have.

Its the s2 ptu with the s2 plugs, but they are cut off at the wires as you can see in the pic.

So what exactly would I have to do? (I am a bit of an electrical noob) Just cut off the S1 plugs, and solder the loom wires up to the corresponding wires on the S2 plugs?

Hey mate, I talked with Caz and it seems Nissan won't separate the kit

Yep, cut off the old Series I plugs and solder in the new ones for the Series II. Don't forget, the Earth/Ground lead now now connects to the opposite side of the PTU.

    This might help:
