I don't get -ve comments at all but a few weeks ago...

while giving way at the roundabout a person with a comodore station wagon (prob 45+YO) goes past me slowly with the middle finger up.

My reaction was, I'm not breaking any road rules by giving way so then if he doesn't like my car that is his problem and not mine. So loughed it off and on I went business as usual.

Some people perhaps think because you drive such a car you may be a pretentious person with no idea. They will never know that these are now 20YO and what it takes to own on of these babies in terms of maintenance, meaning the labour of love and parting with serious cash in some instances. I appreciate each and every person owning one of these beasts, they are not just purchased at the dealership like a new car. It takes a lot of effort to look after and keep in great condition and that alone commends respect.

To me its like pulling up next to a Shelby/Corvertte/whatever owner and saying "shit car mate"??? When clearly the people driving those cars own them because they like them and not for what Joe Blogg thinks!!!!

On the +ve side, my car did evoke a reaction compared to any other cars around. So these definately stand out from the crowd and stir people's emotions one way or another:D:D:zlove::zlove::zlove:

    Food for thought.

Ha-ha. I like the Listerine trick. must remember that one.

I usually just ignore this type of comment - and then leave them eating my dust.

ive had both positive and negative comments in my white zed(2+2 manual turbo), split 50/50 down the middle, but the negative comments were obviously jealousy or bogans with no idea, so i was able to laugh it off......

in the convertible however its a completely different story, with absolutely no negative comments bar one from a stranger, but quite a interesting array of negative comments from other z32 owners.

on the recent cruise one of the 350z owners mentioned he had a guy in a f430 (i think) pull up next to him at the servo and say "nice zed" and he was shell shocked coz this guy owned a 10x dearer and perceived better car

    Mixed bag today.

So I've been around here for a while now, not long enough to be comfortably accepted but enough to be getting notorious (annoying?). During this time I have never had my Z on the road... until today. The very first day I drive her and I cop it!

It started out alright, in the first 5 mins there was a bus of teenage girls in the next lane about 1 car up, I see this one girl point at the Z and gets all excited, bringing all her friends attention to it and they all looked genuinely smitten about the car's kewl factor... I just sat stoney still trying not to look like a dirty old man by acknowledging their obvious gushing.

I made it out of Adelaide and hit Port Wakefield, first thing I see is an Aus spec Z32 parked on the side of the road so I couldn't help myself, I pull in behind him for a chat... then it happens - on my first day out. The douche in his commonwhore chucking mainies rolls down his window and yells "Piece of shit!"

Had to ignore him, if only he'd pulled up, I'd probably be in jail by now, I'm a fighter not a lover. Anyway, I just laughed it off as he mainied off to somehwere he couldn't be shown up.;)

Glad your zed is out of the shop and onto the road!

Too bad about the commonwhore driver though... that's a bit of a downer. Conversely, however, bus of teenage girls? That's the opposite of a downer ;)

I trust the zed didn't miss a beat on the way up to Roxby, otherwise I'm sure we'd have heard about it by now :p

Thank you for the well wishes, it went well, so very very well, incredibly well! I'll do a little write up later today when I can snap some shots. Baz is an absolute hero of mine... and a little bit psycho too I might add when he took me for a spin in the Z for the first time ;)

This is a beatiful summary of what I bet we all feel and know. And the fact that motor heads will make the effort to let us know that they feel threatened is very amusing. First time I've owned a vehicle that induces a defence mechanism from bogans

Do these people feel invincible in their commodores or something? do they realise that they will piss the wrong zedder off (or anyone else with a fast car) and will have no chance of outrunning them?

I dont have road rage issues, (nothing realy bothers me on the road) but you know someone would be like "WHAT THE **** C**T" and chase them home.

The middle finger drive by made me lo though

I just bought my zed and i know im going to cop a heap load of crap from it, especially around my area, im quite scared about leaving her in certain areas to be honest.

But this is my dream car, Ive had my match box 300zx since god knows when. Ive been saving my ass off to get it and I'm going to love this thing to death and that's all that matters to me, who give a sh!t what others think. It's my car, not theirs!

    BADZX Grumpy old fart

    An old farts breakdown......

There's a stage in every ones life that one comes to realise quite a few things that our fathers said were actually true and the lessons of life were learnt well and truely before we were ready to understand the meanings of it all..

    My dad once said ....
the only opinions that matter are the silent opinions from those that know

for years I thought .... der .... silly old fart

I've come to realise that what he meant was more along the lines of watch peoples reactions to something and the ones that really know the worth are the ones that you dont hear, you can only see the opinion....

    Example:

drive past a group of road workers....... what car will they look at.....

yet these guys are standing on the sides of our roads for 5,6,7, hours a day and litterally see thousands of cars pass by, their eyes WILL always track onto the hottest of chicks by magic, their eyes will always follow that sexy car through the roadworks aswell, and if its an awsome car, they'll actually move to get a better look..

Or you can let someone thats a passenger in a commacoon dis-hearten you with his expert knowlege on everything but commacoons and the rear seats

Its easy to hang shit on something you cant understand, after all its the only defence you have
