Took the car to Maroochydore the other day for tyres, when I got there it's running rough. Drove home, plugged in Datascan, No3 not firing, pulled the coil pack and what do I find  spark plug drowned in COOLANT! not good. Dried it all, fired up, smooth as a babies bum, back to M/dore, tyres, rough running on the way back. Less than impressed. More coolant around #3 plug. Had a look at my spare heads, figured it out. During the 2004 re-build the heads were stripped, caustic bath cleaned, valves, seats, guides replaced with associated porting and stuff ( about $1k a head from memory) The plug for the cooling system next to #3 was not tight , pulled it out and whatever sealant was used was just a white powder, pic shows the cleaned and re-sealed plug before I cleaned up the area

    At first glance, I feared

you'd blown a head gasket or something ("wet spark plug")... what a relief it is just a stupid coolant gallery plug leak...:zlove:

PS: That engine paint has held up well!

Yeah, but wet on the outside, had me stumped for a while, had to pull the plenum to confirm my thoughts. Good oportunity to carry out a bit of long overdue "maintenance". Been toying with pulling the plenum to re-polish it and clean some of the impossible to get to chrome, but thought that was a bit of a wank, clean all connectors, change coolant, so done and back to needing welding goggles when opening the bonnet on a sunny day:cool:
