    Hi Guys,

not sure if anyones has seen this yet so I thought I'd post it up but current rumor circulating is Nissan possibly releasing a 450Z.

Apparently would have a tuned 4.5 litre V8, i think that would have to be the VK45DE engine, Rumored to have approximatly 400 odd hp.

Also talk of it being all wheel drive, although I'm of the opinion that it would no longer be a Z then....

It would be targeted at the porsche/maserati market.

Here is an article... plenty more floating around the net about this...

I don't like the idea that much, but what does everyone else here think?

    sounds good to me.

also doubt 4wd. wouldn't really match their probably marketing, given the new GTR will be 4wd (and is rumoured to have an 8).

So long as it doesn't end up like all the other rumours. My 2 cents is free

Honda have been crappying on about a proper engine for the NSX since the NSX came out, and their still hyper'in it up 12 years later, and reckon its going to be a TT. I think i have seen like the 20th Magazine article for a 500+pony NSX

So many cars were ment to revamp the already tidy supercars of the 90's... the NEW skyline is the first to actually do so after 15 years of jap car companies talking it up, and since jap have 270kw limit on advertising, ie cars are still produced with more then 270kw but they advertise them as 270 ??? they never real gave hardcore muscle a second thought... till now...go figure ?

In the end they go the cheaper and mass sales option and invent something like the S2000, or similar.
They opt out of the super-supercar mod because they figure they'd rather sell a hole lot of S2000's then a few 500hp NSX's.

Even the new skyline will be mega limited and probably reach well above $120,000 in price, but Nissan said it was designed for the honour of the skyline, and not to make the company rich.

Saw an Rx7 series 8 prototype in Jap car show mag, the body was so wide you'd swear some fat arsed american designed it...and they came up with the Rx8 instead ???

Personally I can't see the 450z coming any time soon. They only just released the 350... 450 would kill that market, so they wont have that.
I think the next logical evolution would be to TT or Supercharge the 350z from factory and that would sell like hot cakes. Once that dries up, then they might try a 450 ? Who knows... hope it turns good AND
If they were to produce a 450 i would love to see it hit old school lines and look like a bullet, rather then all these modern Porsche boxster wonnabies like the AudiTT, the Rx8 and 350z, all with that bubble car, where'd the hard supercar edges go ???

    New Jap cars

Well i wouldnt hold your breath about a 450z, considering that Nissan in now owned by Renault(44% ) and after the release of the NA 350 i wouldnt expect much.

Seems the golden era of turbocharged sports cars is over, the 200sx,supra,skyline(if u class the g35 as a line),rx7 and a few others have all been put out of production and replaced with cars such as the NA rx8 g35 and 350z, given the 350 is a nice car. I believe all the manufacturers are being hownded by government red tape such as emision controls and other stuff.

If you wanna read more about the owner ship of the major car companies check this sight out :

    Well thats my 2 cents

That's what i said, but they said it much quicker :)

They get these government workers switching "portfolio's" every year
and they have no clue about anything

Some cars actually have better emissions WITH a turbo because of the increase in O2 and cleaner combustion... not saying it work with everything but if used well can be just as good if not better

They're also americanizing cars with that NO FRONT BUMPER look... like the new skyline or the new Cobra, its just bonnet head lights ground, one giant straight line following the bonet to the ground

Bring back the might of the front spoiler, give us that Aerosmith and Mick Jagger massive front lip.
At least the viper for all its short comings still has a good old fashioned MASSIVE front bar

I agree that this all wheel drive V8 business is'nt right for a Z

I doubt nissan will mass produce any forced induction Z33s however enticing that sounds :zlove:.

If a turbo or supercharged Z were to come from the factory it would have to be a new model. I dont like the idea of a V8 Z or all wheel drive Z either. All wheel drive is Skyline territory. The power plant of both the new GTR and this new Z will remain a mystery until they can be sold.

I have heard the new GTR may feature some sort of hybrid drivetrain, being electonically assisted drive in the front wheels. Hopefully the new Z will be more traditional (RWD only).

    A V8 Z is no Z to me :zlove:

As for the body a return to the sleek lines, like that of our mighty z32's, should be in order. I like the 350 but the similarities to other cars as AAD00R mentioned just does'nt inspire like the Z32 :D. Add to that the front of the GTR proto is just plain wrong .

At least that looked like the rear end was closer to a z32

But I wouldn't hold my breath on a rumor like that. Wouldn't be supperised if that sketch came from body kit producer or something

But to put a V8 in a Z is plain wrong, however if nissan want to do it I doubt they would listen to the loyal Z fans trying to stop them.

Re: put a V8 in a Z is plain wrong

so is putting in AWD. i'll be a shame if this thing comes out according to those specs. since it's probably a DOHC V8, i won't hold anything against them, but AWD just isn't necessary especially since it's still NA.

    Why the anti-V8 lobby?

If the Z32 had come with a V8 instead of or as optional to the V6 it would not have changed my mind about buying it. An NA V8 could be a good cost-sensible alternative to a V6TT.

If V8 Z's "aren't acceptable" then it's quite possible that our V6 Z32's don't meet "Z" criteria either - after all the original Zeds were straight sixes for the first 13/14 years.

    yea

LS1/2 = easy 400 hp with no lag and lighter than our V6, and that sound... drool.

    don't care what you say, I shall one day own a V8 Z. :)

    seriously

drop an ls1 in there, slap on some turbos... BAM! more power than you know what to do with.

actually, APS do a TT kit for the ls1: LS1 TT

400RWkw @10psi. seems a little conservative, but i suppose for high comp engine.

    seriously

I share your dream Mike:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:. The pros of getting the LS1 are lighter, more power, cheaper parts, mechanics wont run away when they see it, can be made faster, all that power in a lighter car would beat holdens whith same or more mods, more torque, better centre of gravity etc.

The APS kit is extreemly well made. The guys in america absolutely raves about it. Also I think 400 is on the conservative side. Some guys in america have gotten crazy power.

Hey MikeH and J4Play keep it down will ya AAD00R might hear/see :):):).
