It was lonely out at Oran Park yesterday without ZX2NV or JT there but it was still a good day. My first run didn't start too well with me immediately catching a Datsun 1200 and a Torana XU1 within the first lap. I managed to pass the 1200 down the straight on the second lap and got the Torana under brakes into the turn 2. It was a little bit hairy because the Torana driver didn't see me coming. After that I posted the second fastest lap of the day with a 1min27.1....Then when I came into the pits to line up again for my second run I could here my fan belt squeeling . I went back to the garages and found I had lost my alternator pivot bolt. I pinched a suitable bolt from my Landcruiser for a temporary repair which lasted the next couple of runs. The oil catch can I installed to alleviate my oil problem worked a treat catching about half a litre of oil and the car didn't blow ANY smoke this time  . I only did three runs because I lost the alternator bolt again so I called it a day after the third session. I did manage to break the lap record again for class 1C with a 1min26.72 lap. I now have the type 1C record for Oran Sth, Oran GP, Eastern Ck and Wakefield! Goes to show how great these Zeds are in standard form. My Zed is 17 years old now and is showing up some newer (modified) cars at the track. Results are here at the Natsoft website for anyone interested. http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?01/07/2007.ORGP.S1 Cheers, Dave.
Again well done Got to be proud of those times with a complete stocker Dave, Obviously well driven:thumbup:
Thanks guys. I'm really happy with my times considering I'm quicker now in my Zed than when I last did the Sprint championships in '99 in a Falcon XR8. I'm generally 2 to 4 seconds a lap quicker now in the Zed... Is it maturity or the car? I like to think it's a bit of both! Hehe Cheers, Dave.
well done uncle stock....!!! .. most impressive ... .. and a lot to do with the driver, methinks ... :zlove:
Nice one Dave well done mate. I should have my engine back this week cant wait to get back out there 6 weeks is too long. I noticed my mate Kevin Whitehead in that insanely quick GTR wasnt there yiipppeee no points for him plus he has been a no show for two rounds. He is off my target list. The only one left now to real in is Murray Dicks in the quick STI who is only around 1 - 2 seconds quicker than the old ZX2NV So look out all on the 29th when ZX2NV returns to the black stuff. Come hell or high water we will be back Dave to have some fun once more.
NICE WORK DAVE! Will get out there soon when the work situation sorts itself out and is not up in the air! MattB
Thanks mate, will be great to have you out there. I saw you going down the highway yesterday at Faulco. (Well I think it was you...Dressed ready for work). You passed me going down the hill outside the fruit barn.. I wasn't in the Zed though so I didn't wave.... You would have thought "Who's this nutter!" !!! Hehe Cheers, Dave.
Hey Dave where did you locate the oil catch can? Did you move the battery to make room? Pics if possible. cheers and well done. Geoff
good work Dave flying the flag again with some great times. Also noticed Rudi in a VW did a 1 min 21 which is unreal for an old girl no turbo either. He gets his car tuned on our dyno and not huge power but well set up and very light.
