We had a great day yesterday (Sat 6th)...
It was good to meet a couple of new faces, Cliff (Cru1sr) Nice bloke with a very nice almost "off the factory floor" condition Zed...
And... Liam (Laam) another nice bloke with a massive sounding exhaust, and a "skeg" too! Yaaaay some one to swap Surfing stories with lol!

And good to see Mick again (MickW) with another very classy Zed...

And finally Ross and his family... woow what can I say mate!

Thinking that there were more people coming, Ross and Christie (hope I spelt that right cos' I know the BBQ got it wrong lol) put on such a Feast... omg there was potato salad, steak, sausages, dirnks on Ice and much more.... gosh I didn't even need to eat when I got home!
Treated us like Kings they did!! Thank you very much guys!!

And what a beautiful place Castlemaine is too... those avid photographers that went will post up some pics I'm sure!

All in all it was a great day spent with excellent people!

    Thanks heaps!

p.s. Liam, did you end up fitting your SMIC gear?? or were you too full to work on the cars when you got back to Ross's lol?

    Was a great day,

Heaps of thanks to Ross and Mick to helping me put in the SMICs as they were not a straight bolt on, luckily you guys have a heap of spare pipes.

We then ran a boost leak test and found a couple which were not easily fixed, diagnosis involved the cap of a mr sheen can and a broome stick handle.... I'm sure Mick will post the pic. Finished up around 10pm! Very happy on the drive home, amazed you guys go to that effort for someone you just met. Hope I can repay the favor soon,

You guys are brilliant and really know your stuff.

Ross and Chrisie really know how to host. Perfect

Was a great day, pretty sunburnt come this morning
    Bring on the pics

    Good old Mister Sheen.
The first boost leak we found seemed to be from the rubber coupler on the compressor discharge, RHS turbo.
So we disconnected and or removed a lot of stuff to get at it, only to find that the coupler was OK.
Rather than reassemble everything we scrounged through Ross's workshop looking for something to block off the coupler.
Best we could come up with was a cap from a Mister sheen can, and a broom. And Liam

I had a great day. Really enjoyed the company and it was brill to meet a couple more members.
Will post more pics later and I'm sure Cliff (cru1sr) has some great shots of our Zeds.

Liam - was your Zed a bit more responsive on the way home?

It was a great day and perfect weather too! Thanks for all the kind word guys. Good opportunity to meet some very nice people.

Glad to hear you all enjoyed it as Kristy was nervous about the yard being messy and not having much in the was of seating etc. If any of you guys are down this way in the future, make sure you drop in to say hi. I'm easily located in the garage fixing some new problem with the zed ;)

Hope you're feeling better Cliff, you missed out on the fun of smic install :)

Yeah. Im feeling the burn this morning.
Also we swapped out my stock air filters for Ross' pod filter that he removed when installing his FMIC. Thanks again. As my filters were not champhered and were causing a leak.

Car definitely felt better on the drive home. :zlove:

Good to hear mate. The filter was no use to me with the fmic, at least someone else can make use of it :)
I'll let you know how the bovs pan out and happy to help you install some when the time comes. Still shocked that your has none

    Pics from the day including those of our special Canadian guest!! {PIC HEAVY}

    Ross,

Thanks for inviting us up and please thank Kristy and Carson for putting on a great BBQ. It was great to meet everyone and the cruise up with Sean and Liam was fantastic.

Here are a few pics with a guest appearance from someone we all love.

Ross' Zed (metallic grey) and mine. The wing on this car looks great. Makes his 2+2 actually look shorter
    [IMG]

Liam's Zed with 3" exhausts all the way through. The elderly tourists visiting Castlemaine's antique stores hit the floor as Liam drove down the main street.

Mick's very clean 300zx. Lots of work has gone into getting the engine tidy.

Sean's Aus Spec 2+2. Checkout the custom nose work that Sean did himself
    [IMG]

The weather forecast was for a sunny day with no chance of rain so Arashi took the VigorousZX out to the BBQ.

Sean giving Zed love while Ross and Kristy slave away to cook us that fantastic feast

I have no idea why everyone was looking at Ross in this photo. I think they may have spotted some food on his teeth.

Everyone was pretending to be polite as Arashi discusses his idea for a paper mache submarine.

I will send the full res photos to those who attended soon.

Nice camera work, you have even managed to make my zed look clean :D

judging from the wide angle shots my zed needs to go on a diet

More pics, working on Liam's Zed.

    Before we started -

Liam's replacement SMIC's, alongside his existing stock ones -

Ross sizing up the SMIC fitment -

Liam's stock airbox lid was sitting askew because one of the filter panels was the wrong shape and the long front bolt was missing.
Short version of that fix is that Ross's old pod filter now has a new home, a RED home :p

Liam doing the pod filter and re-fitting the horns -

Pretty much done, ready to put the front bar back on -

About 2 hours worth of good teamwork, going well in spite of the SMIC fitment issues. Then we all agreed that a
boost leak test would be a good idea...
Needless to say, every time we disconnected or even touched a vac hose we had to replace it.
Not to mention custom making a PCV hose, clever stuff Ross.
Not many pics of that part of the saga, sorry. ( my hands were mostly too dirty to handle a camera )

Here's one of Liam feeling for the final leak -

Seven and a half hours later, ready to roll -

Ross and Liam went for a hoon around Castlemaine to make sure that we hadn't upset anything on the engine
that might cause Liam any dramas on the way back to Melbourne.

Much kudos to Ross, nothing fazes or defeats him when it comes to working on cars.
And special thanks to cru1sr for organising Arashi's cameo appearance.

R31 Gagz Harden the F#%K up!!

Looks like it was a great day guys, glad it all went well with Liams Z...I was waiting for Arashi to start applying wet newspaper somewhere as his contribution :p

Would have loved to come down and get my hands dirty as well, I suppose theres always the next Zed party / tech day?

    Cheers,

    Craig

Great work guys and great photos of the progress. I'm dissapointed that I couldn't stay but I seriously felt like crap at the bbq.

There was definitely lots of knowledge in that garage to get all of the work done.

    Until next time!
