Ride height , best setup for good handling ?

Ok so I've done some random searches and read a few threads on ride heights in the past about the pros and cons of going to low or staying too high .

I've gathered if you go too low you ruin your bump steer etc , sacrifice handling for looks. I don't want that .
So you have to find the happy medium between lowering the centre of gravity and still keeping it high enough for the suspension to do its job .
I'm wanting to stay at least the legal limit of 100mm to avoid a defect .
Cos I'm a complete noob when it comes to this stuff , I'd like some tips from someone who knows what they are talking about .
    Note:
I have racing logic coilovers with 8's front , 6 rear
also front & rear camber arms , traction rods

Honestly. Car handled best when it was stock.

Unless you mod the suspension to adjust the roll center, stock could actually be best.

I'm not actually sure what the stock height is, or where you are supposed to measure it from . service manual didn't really say .
My stock springs and shocks were severely rooted and sagged (felt like driving a speed boat ). bouncing all over the place
But I'd like to set it to stock height if thats the best for handling , anyone know what that is & where to measure from ?

My opinion is slightly lowered (30mm lowered, so ~100mm clearance) is a very good height with rear adjustable camber arms and firmer suspension. my logic is stock suspension is quite soft and made to lean into the corners (which dials in negative camber). with firmer suspension, obviously it wont lean anywhere near as much, so slightly lowered gives it the naturally aggressive stance for good handling.

you kinda need rear adjustable camber arms to still get good power down (camber goes to like -3.5 degrees at this height), but the front is good without anything as some agressive camber (about 2-2.5degrees) deffinately helps turn in.

i'm running that setup with eibach progressive rate springs, KYB AGX shocks and stillen sway bars. couldnt be happier! car is VERY neutral and predicable on fast mountain roads :D

You cant be serious stock suspension sucks balls.

As said about 30mm lowered is about best before suspension geometry is upset to much.

You measure from the centre of the hub to the gaurd, I have no idea what the distance though.

Ok, so what you and martin are saying is it sits about 130mm at stock ride height ?
    Edit :
Well I was planning on setting the lowest part of the car at least 100mm or slighty above for legal reasons(greddy style front bar)
And that appears to be a good height for handling purposes too ?
    bonus :D

mine is lowered about 35mm and the stock front bar sits at about 100mm from the ground. Your handling will be more determined by the quality of shock/spring combination you use. Stabilizer bars play a big role in handling as well.

Ok , I think my greddy copy sits a little lower than the stock bar did ,
by the way , what suspension setup are you using ?

Hey Martin, interested to hear how your current setup compares with the RL coilovers you had previously?

    Cheers,

    -Martin (as well lol)

koni sports adjustable shocks with lowered king springs, and whiteline swaybars. The koni's ride a little firm but they are excellent as far as handling goes.

    Ah I see cheers
Well I have racing logic coilovers as mentioned above , adjustable camber arms etc .
race logics are supposed to be stiff , so I guess a set up like yours and martins would do the trick
    cheers

Yeah I'd imagine it would ride very firm with those spring rates. Kings are around the 3kg/mm mark, so very streetable.

    Good Luck with the setup!!

Eibach springs like yours or mine drop the car about 20mm from stock. IMO the perfect height. Handling is still excellent at this position

WAY better, my RL were way too hard (12kg fronts, 7kg rear) so whilst they seemed alot better than stock (which was pretty screwed when i took it out) it jsut wasnt practical on anything other than perfectly smooth roads.

current setup is perfect for the street IMO. reasonable ride comfort and handling like its on rails :D:zlove:

agreed, sway bars make a MASSIVE difference, they wear out just like shocks and springs, if your doing suspension work you should seriously consider replacing
