Have to agree fully, yes there will be unexpected issues that arent shown in the pix provided so far, we both have no idea as to what the boot floorpan looks like under the carpet and it would give a much clearer idea as to how bad the damage is and how far it goes if we did see those pix....

Sort of agree with the "2 weeks" for the panel shop.....
    I'd have said 3 weeks, posiably a month !
Cars with damage such as this ZX's tend to go through 'repair stages' with a day or 2 inbetween where zero work gets done on them.... we"ve all heard the "waiting for parts" excuse too many times !
The real reason is that "we" can punch out several other less damaged cars in the time and make the coin..... sad but true.

From my experiance, panel shops these days are heading the way of mechanics, if its difficult then they dont want to know about it so take it else where to a specialised shop...... simply put, theres more money to be made from quick turnovers that are simple unbolt the damaged door/guard and replace it.. respray the section to match.... out the door, where's the cheque.... thanks .... come again .... next !

Panel shops ... probably the single reason I started doing my own stuff
& probably the main reason we see so many other people doing likewise these days..... perhaps it the costs involved, perhaps there are other reasons, for me it was the simple issue that I KNEW what I wanted, HOW I wanted it and that it shouldnt take 2 weeks to do it, after all.... its just a bit of tin, try bending a 610mm bridge beam ( material sizes I'm used to working with ;))

    Back to the repair.....
I still recon I could get that rear 1/4 done to the ready for bog stage in a couple of days, the most difficult bit will be getting that arse-end back across to where it should be so the replacement rear 1/4 can be attatched and line up

Agree ...That kink on the drivers side wont pop out fully, but with the right pressure in the right places most of it will come back without a huge fight...yes it will still need work after its been pushed back but nothing major....

There's every chance that the boot floorpan may need to be seperated from the rear panel or indeed the subchassis' for the alignment to happen but again its only a couple of hours to seperate it, hell it would only take 15mins to angle grind the boot floorpan out fully.... take longer to ringaround for a replacement !
