Rev in neutral

    Hey guys this morning started my car straight up to 1500rpm the car was inutral i put my foot on the accelerator and bought the revs up to 2500rpm stumbles to get acceleration then is fine but once reahc 2500rpm it will slow go do to 2000rpm and back up again accelerator not moving its doing it itself.
    also any ideas why it stumbles to get up rev in nutural its like it coughing like dirty fuel??
    1990 N/A 5 spd
    any ideas

    check your cts (coolant temp sender)sounds like it could be loose

    Or it could be the fact that the engine is as cold as a stone and not ready to function properly yet. Did you try to rev straight away or did you give it some time to warm up?
