    Hey guys.
Anybody got advise on how to replace head gaskets? I had a quick look at the tech section but didn't see anything

I can't do it with the engine in?

    Yes you can

but its a lot easier with it out, and while its out you can easily repair/replace a whole range other things that need attention.

As stated take the engine out, then you can easily do all the coolant lines to the turbos as well, (better yet do a coolant bypass for the plenum while you are at it). I would also consider checking the Welsh plugs at the same time.

I heard somewhere that a bypass isn't needed. What's the point of one?

Why do you want to replace the head gaskets ?

They do not fail on their own so replacing them without fixing the cause of their failure is pretty pointless.

And no, bypassing the plenum coolant lines is not necessary, but it simplifies things and saves you the work of replacing all these little hoses under the plenum. Either is a must.

I need to replace them cause mine are done. What could cause them 2 fail?

Do you monitor your Thermostat gauge on the ODO?
Over heating can sometimes cause a head gasket to go.. Check radiator fluids also.

The standard temp gauge is useless, do not trust what it shows. Your head gaskets are blown for one of 2 common reasons, detonation or overheating. Pull the engine, remove the heads and have a machine shop inspect them. If it has overheated, there is also a good chance the engine now has low compression.

What were the circumstances when the head gaskets went?

so what makes you think the head gasket is gone? have you done a compression test? are you losing coolant? is there bubbles coming through your radiator?

I think its my head gasket because it's smoking really bad out both exhausts and a almost whistling at the engine bay. Kind of like when a spark plug comes out. Just like on this video. Also I went over abit of a crest and that's when I noticed a strange noise and a loss of horse power

If he puts on 2 sets, could it do 400kmh? Veyron killer for the price of a couple head gaskets.

Oh dear ... you better get someone that knows what their doing have a look for you .

Could be head gasket , could be turbo , could be rings .

Either way its engine out time .

Get someone to help mate because these cars need a little experience and seems like you have very little ( no offence) .

BTW ... A2zed is an expert I would listen to him ;)
