Does anyone know a manufacturer / speaker model to replace the 2+2's original rear speakers (6.5" x 4.5" / 16.5cm x 11.5cm). No recommendations seem to come up via search and they're a very odd size... thanks.

Hey Toby, pretty sure they were a Bose speaker as well, so if your looking at original, then maybe contact them to see what they have. Or have a chat too Chris @ Audio Express Redcliffe or Al ( ztoy )

Thanks Steve, yeah, the ones that got the Bose kit, all the speakers were round. Most the 2+2's built got the oval shaped, odd sized rear speakers. For what was at the time, quite an expensive sports car, Nissan certainly put utterly pissy speakers in these cars... the ones in my 10/97 were well past shagged.
4" x 6" are the closest to original size but even the big brands like Pioneer only offer RMS values of 30w... so I ended up going with Kicker KSC464's which at least offer 75wRMS.

You could always install a pair of Bose rear speaker boxes from a 2+2.
    These will accommodate 6.5" speakers.
There were two variations of the Bose boxes, the differences being the size & shape of the speakers they house.

Thanks, just went with a pair of 4x6's. I'd imagine those Bose boxes would be tricky to find these days but good to know :)

    BigCol That's what she said...

I did this and put in some kicker 6.5" speakers and the sound is an enormous improvement over the JBL 6x4's I had prior.

Thanks Rob, will take a look. No doubt the rear speakers in the other two I'm keeping are shagged as well. Peak rating for the original rear speakers was an ear-shattering 18w!

There is a thread on this forum that shows fitting the speakers below the mounting lip, so bigger is possible
