Hi guys, I'm thinking about removing my foggies.. inside lights & non-hybrid .. and I was thinking about filling it up somehow. I remember seeing something with a sparco label on it on some other Z on the forum, but I can't remember who had it. I think it was carbon fibre finish too. The ducts from power trix seem too aggressive to me, and I just want something simple, but suitable in place of the foggies.
Whats so bad about having foggies? Do you never drive in the countryside where they could be of benefit or ever drive in poor/foggy conditions? One of the worst things about previous cars I've owned was never having oem foggies integrated and now someone wants to illiminate them without substituing for another viable alternative? Maybe it's strictly a city car that never ventures outside city limits where it's always illuminated with street lights? Before "filling" in the foggy holes it may be worthwhile to consider if the Zed is going to be your car forever, else the next buyer may be turned off due to a wastefull mod. Just my take on the whole idea.
good points... also the fact that the zed looks so much cooler with 4 lights on instead of 2, even in the city...
easy enough to move the parkers into the side spots. I just filled the spot in with fiberglass and will bog it as soon as the weather clears
agree that the parkers issue is easily resolved, you just need the indicator/parker combo lights that fit in the side holes. With filling the hole on your bar though I do have some questions. What sort of bar do you have, is it aftermarket (ie. fibreglass) or OEM? If its fibreglass then I dont see any issues at all however if its OEM (ie .urethane) then wouldn't the fibreglass filler section crack off when the bar flexes? Is it possible to get fibreglass to bond to urethane ok? cheers, Tim
What about buying the powertrix fibreglass ducts, fibreglass over the front of the duct, closing it off and then attach? If it was me though I'd leave the foggies or replace with the ducts...not just fill it in. Cheers! Craig
In fog, wouldn't HID's reflect of the fog as it were alot more? And the foglights would penetrate the fog alot deeper? Thought that was the whole point? Just wondering, since I haven't seen HID's in fog, but I know cars with HID lights OEM often still have a separate set of foglights.
If it's a TT why not fit those air ducts that go in the fog location. Easily replaced with the fogs if required http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=287034
yah man, thanks.. thats also another option. I made some posts about what Ill use it for and was quickly shut down lol Also guys... its not that i dont like having foggies.. but because one of mine is badly damaged after a recent prang and its hard to find second hand in good time to replace it. Also I never really use it as I do the lowbeam thing .. yeah i know thats not the right thing to do.. but I also have an HID kit too. Just considering my options really.. Ive made only a handful of posts here, and the ones relating to foggies all seem to contradict each other lol - either used set, or ducts, or this thread..
You're probably thinking of JP's (forum member Unique Zed) setup on the slot car. IIRC, it's carbonfibre custom fitted to suit the fog light space - I'm not really sure how they tacked it on. Sparco label was probably just bling (or contributed to that monster hp-rating, dunno )
fiberglass will bond to plastic, just key the plastic in really roughly. Otherwise get a blank plastic welded in. I think you would get better results from fiberglass and bog though. As if you would get the powertrix inserts then glass them smooth, what a waste of money My bars fiberglass
I want to fill in my fog light holes too. I have a GReddy bar and no fog lights as the car came with a Veilside vomit C2 bar and a weird reo bar. Foggy's are HARD to find in good nick. I reckon those nifty powertrix inserts are sexy but too pricey IMO.
