Hey guys The crank I used in my engine which has recently been rebuilt came from an auto. How do I go about removing the spacer which sits at the most rear of the crank where the input shaft goes into? I have it turning with quite some force with a pipe wrench, thinking of drilling into it to remove metal, weaken it and hopefully get it out that way. Engine is still out, not sure how people get around this when doing auto to manual swaps. Matt.
Pack the cavity with grease and use a bolt that has the same OD as the spacers ID. Or near abouts. Then with a hammer, hit the bolt head driving the threaded section through the spacers ID and it will simply pop out. I cant recall the exact size bolt needed but 20mm comes to mind.
I'll try this again, did it prior to having it rotating with the pipe wrench had no luck but I will try it today. Did this work for you on an auto to man swap? Also where can I buy an aerosol can which can freeze up the spacer so it can contract?

I think I put a socket extension bar in thats almost the size of the ring and jiggled side to side and up and down . It eventually makes its way out .
If youd taken Sanousk's advice and "Hydraulic'd" it out, it would have cost nothing and taken approximately, 2 minutes........ Newhoo. E
This was the first thing I did, wouldn't budge. Pipe wrench got it turning, and then today it fell out.
